John Betjeman said when the end of the world came he wanted to be in the haberdashery department at Peter Jones 'because nothing unpleasant could ever happen there'.
The Dame feels that way when she reads Felicity Buchan's weekly updates.
They all seem about 'What Felicity did next': nothing about the horrendous mess the country has got itself into after 12 years of Toryism. It's time Felicity took her head out of the sand and stopped pretending everything is hunky-dory.
Challenger banks have done the seemingly impossible by taking on the big boys.
Could The Reform Party become a challenger party?
The omens have never looked better.
If it cannot capitalise now it will never.
If the Dame really thinks that Reform UK are a serious political party then she has become more detached and irrelevant than I thought. Pro Brexit and more right wing than Suella Braverman. God help us!
ReplyDeleteRead the old Dame's comment again. She echoes what many far more serious pundits are saying. She doesn't know whether they are a serious threat or not and nor do you! There are millions of working class people for who Reform resonates so it is bound to be a threat...like it or not!
DeleteThe Tories are in the mess. Labour is a joke. But the two parties have it stitched up. Nothing will change without PR. And that is not going to happen. So the next election will be a close run thing between a mess and a bigger mess. In the long run a dose of Labour may be the best way to force the Tories to sort themselves out and refresh the party.
ReplyDeleteEmma Dent Coad and Elizabeth Campbell are the biggest joke in local politics in London.
DeleteThe problem is bigger than Flicker. She needs to keep her head down and hope for survival. A few pics never did anyone any harm.
ReplyDeleteBut she needs to keep her mouth shut
DeleteOn a majority of only 150 it's highly unlikely that Felicity Buchan will be our MP for another term. Unless EDC goes & does a really dumb thing such as standing as an independent & splitting the Labour vote that is
DeleteEmma Coad might given her ego. She needs to accept that voters don’t want her or what she stands for. Buchan is useless too.
DeleteFelicity Buchan has proved as much use as a chocolate teapot. I wrote to her in July from my SW3 address about a specific matter (sent several times on email also). Never even got a response. She can't even represent constituents, so the chance of her bothering about doing anything about national matters is as likely as another five pigs flying past her window. The woman should return to propping up the bar at The Enterprise pontificating, as she used to do, about how much she (then) loved Theresa May.
ReplyDeleteSir Malcolm Rifkind always answered my correspondence from my SW10 address.
DeleteHow rude of the Felicity one to ignore Mr. Steeples!
