In its December Winter newsletter, the Society's Thomas Blomberg chronicles in depth the financial history of Thames Water and the connection between lack of investment and the constant infrastructure issues culminating in the disastrous sewage flooding that hit so many residents.
The case against privatisation of key utilities like water companies is devastatingly made by Blomberg.
Thames Water is a rogue company run by self-centred and irresponsible managers who know that they run an untouchable monopoly.
The Kensington Society does admirable work and this analysis of Thames Water is a perfect example.

Was it wrong to denationalise the railways? Was it wrong to denationalise water? The customer experience has not been good. In fact it has been terrible. AND national infrastructure has become run down because of lack of investment. Worse still, sky high prices to pay dividends to investors. And horror, dividends to foreign investors!
ReplyDeleteCompetition, customer service, and market efficiency - these are all core Tory concerns. Felicity Buchan, what is your opinion? This is to request that you ask for a policy review before the next election.
Tory has made a serious and important challenge to our MP. It would be really, really encouraging to hear from her.
DeleteFlicker, where are you?
DeleteOh, do shut up. I have much more important things to do like climbing up greasy poles and orifices. I won't hold the seat next time so won't waste too much time on boring constituency work...and I never read this ghastly blog: I get my 'people' to look.
