STAFFING SOARS AT THE TOWN HALL




Dear Dame

I thought the Council was cutting costs. 

This chart shows it not to be the case. 

Whilst business throttles back on staffing Cllr Campbell puts her foot on the accelerator!

Business in the Borough...large, medium and small...is struggling with rising rents, business rates, and inflation. 

It is insulting for the Council not to show solidarity by putting the brake on staffing.

We need a new leader and deputy who will show some sort of realism.

  1. These figures are an abomination. But not surprising. Most of the Town Hall staff are still working at home even though COVID is finished. Temporary staff can't take advantage of this scandal so the system has replaced them with "perms". ANOTHER failure of leadership in the Town Hall by the useless dizzy .

  2. Observer has had his/her rant. The number that council tax payers need to be worried about is the growth in staff. This is not small Government, low taxes that Mrs Thatcher crusaded for - Kensington and Chelsea Tories need to make it clear that this is what we want in RBKC. Cllr Campbell needs to get to work

  3. Housing management was taken in-house along with all OCS cleaning staff who are now RBKC paid operatives. High staff numbers = high costs, plus all the extras. Terrible deal for residents, formulated by interim officers for the worst council.

  4. Yet for example when you ask where are the Officers/Inspctors out checking on dumped rubbish and issuing fimes they claim they do not have the staff, though they do manage in the wealthier areas oddly enough

Remember that the running down of skilled & experienced staff and their replacement by privatised contracts ( with contractors marking their own homework ) were major reasons for the Grenfell tragedy . And external contractors ( with the possible exceptions of street cleaning and bin collection) turned out to be neither more efficient nor cheaper! Where l do agree with previous comments is that the number of staff still working from home is concerning . Hybrid working with SOME work done from home is acceptable but to allow too much working from home is bad for morale , efficiency and 'esprit de corps' for young inexperienced staff

  6. Wondering how many of the extra staff are PR communication people or other ones in absolutely pointless roles like the Micky mouse storyteller?
