Currently, the maximum penalty is four years in prison....that is a joke. Most offenders know that even if caught they will get a fine or a few months soft prison time.
If the government was really serious about protecting innocent lives it would make an 8 year sentence mandatory backed up with a targeted advertising campaign.
Today the Daily Mail report: “Elianne Andam, 15, was stabbed in the neck with a kitchen knife on her way to school, court hears as boy, 17, is remanded in custody after being charged with her murder”

A man who died in a stabbing in Kensington and Chelsea has been identified as detectives launch a murder investigation into the killing.
