A BIG WIN AGAINST PROPERTY DEVELOPER, AFFINITY SUTTON

Tonight, the people of Chelsea scored a famous victory over a rapacious, greedy and uncaring Affinity Sutton.
FULL OF BULLSHIT

Keith Exford, the CEO and his thuggish management team will no doubt come back with further plans to exploit an asset throwing up huge potential profits and another opportunity to boost their already sky-high salaries and bonus pool.




It is the most extraordinary way to run a housing association and it's time the Government looked at the way the housing managers pay themselves.

Here's another question. Exford and team have wasted £4 million promoting a scheme no wanted.
Maybe he should consider his future.....

    Residents put up a terrific fight with a set of powerful arguments against the monstrous proposal. The Dame gave this hard work all the visibility that was needed to shake the Planning Councillors and Officers into action and make it difficult for them to sneak another approval through.

    This decision is an early sign that the new Chairman of the Planning Committee, Cllr Quentin Marshall, is prepared to listen to public opinion. The Dame will be watching this Councillor with a laser like focus.

    Cllr Marshall has been around for a while and is tainted by his playboy tastes. Not exactly the stuff of public service. His record as a Councillor is patchy and he is not noted to be connected up with his residents and too concerned with representing their opinion unless it suits him.

    However people sometimes grow into responsibility and the Leader, Cllr Paget-Brown has given this backbencher the opportunity to shine.

      They have wasted £4 million when the bottom has fallen out of the luxury market in London. It's gone never to return!

      Dame do you know if Schumi, Barshall & Henderson will stand again for 2018 local elections? They have proved their worth and would be good for Stanley ward & the borough.

  3. What a pair of wankers, Exford and Bullshit. The Charity Commission needs to audit the Sutton Articles of Association compared with what is being done by the current management. And report the results to the Law Society.

    Certain people need to be barred from office and sent to jail.

    1. What about the claim made by representatives of Affinty Sutton last night they they could make up for a lack of social housing space by providing it at St Quintin in North Kensington. More lies from an organisation that needs investigating!

    2. Of course. Create high value capacity in Chelsea (£2800/sq ft) for high end buy to leave flats (and huge development profits) and move the refugee tenants to a strange community in low value N Kensington £750/sq ft).

      Smash up communities and stuff society in the name of profit. This is vintage Tory territory. But Royal Borough residents have had enough. Time for Councillors and Offciers to take note.

  4. it is good to know that Affinity Sutton can provide more much needed social housing in North Kensington. Let us hope that they will now act as a housing provider for poorer people and build this NOW. It does not need to wait until it can be offered up as a Section 106 carrot in pursuit of its property speculation ambitions. Affinity Sutton has a good balance sheet and anyway it can borrow at rock bottom rates at the moment.

    1. Affinity Sutton could start by fixing the social housing on the Sutton Estate. Maybe the RBKC Council should order a Section 215 notice to ensure that this happens!

  5. Two (of many) highlights of the night: Cllr Taylor-Smith actually speaking out on behalf of his residents (take note Warrick and Pascal); Cllr Bakhtiar pointing out that Affinity Sutton were running down Blocks A to D ten years ago while there was Decent Homes money available to upgrade them.

    Councillors standing up for residents in an intelligent manner - whatever next?

  8. Well, well, well . The constant brushing away of residents fears by Exford and his Thugs was finally exposed last night . An incompetent bunch of nincompoops. Did they really think they were going to get away with claiming the land value was £159 Million and that therefore should be knocked off the profit. They may be able to fool little old vulnerable ladies and families who are overcrowded with promises of new flats, but trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the planning committee was folly .

  10. I think Tim Coleridge needs to make an order to Affinty Sutton to do up blocks A to D as they have now become an eyesore . Tim was very keen to do this with the woman with the Stripey House as''Councillor Timothy Coleridge, from Kensington and Chelsea council, said: "Our policy brings some much-needed sanity to the mega-basement mania and finds the proper balance between subterranean development and the right of the rest of the community to the peaceful enjoyment of their homes. " THE CHELSEA SOCIETY should be encouraged to do this !

  11. It is a well known ploy of developers to run down their estates and use this an argument to knock down and rebuild. We are seeing this in Nottinghill Gate where developers have allowed their commercial properties to deteriorate to an alarming degree. The "Gate" is now an eyesore.

    Three developers have bought up the whole eyesore and propose to replace commercial space with high end buy to leave flats. This will decimate the community.

    1. This is a classic ploy I call 'managed decline'. It has been expertly implemented at Wornington Green (by Catalyst Housing), 49 Bassett Road (by the Council), various housing estates (Council and other housing providers as above) as well as sites such as at Notting Hill Gate. People not aware of this tactic then write in or attend Planning meetings to state 'it's an eyesore', 'it's past its sell-by date', then reports are written stating it's 'not financially viable to refurb' - or the classic 'no longer fit for purpose'.

      Camden resident is quite correct. It is an iniquitous practice and we must recognise it for what it is.

      Organisations like Hornton Street function on the basis of the "climate of opinion" that is created by Councillors. If there were more like Cllr Emma Dent Code who bothered to think about the community that they represent and took the trouble to make an effort, then our lives could be transformed.
