THE SAUDIS ARE COMING TO BULLDOZE M&S

No to this blot on King's Rd

DP9- an aggressive, no holds barred planning consultancy, is behind many controversial and unwanted developments in the Royal Borough.

It is now combining with controversial architects, Pillbrow, to get through an unwanted and hideous redevelopment of the much-loved Marks and Spencer store in Kings Road.

Their client? .....ruthless multi-billion dollar Saudi developer, HALJ Group.

HALJ-greedy for profit has instructed DP9 to build as high as possible so residents can expect to be overlooked by yet more international buyers looking to park their dodgy money....enough is enough!

King's Road is a shadow of its once attractive self and this development, if approved, will finally seal its fate.

We are supposed to live in a democracy.

Councillors need to listen to those who vote them in and halt this overdevelopment.

  1. Are M&S pulling out of the King's Road?

Or is M&S in favour of this redevelopment, and, therefore, in bed the with the Deveopers because they will get a new branch of their business when the redevelopment is completed?

If memory serves me well, this branch of M&S used to be a Gateway supermarket before M&S took it over?

    1. It looks like 'Wholefoods' might take it over . Not as good as M and S and too expensive to be of any use to the wider Chelsea Diaspora

    2. Whole foods market is utter shit. Everything costs an arm and a leg and the food is revolting. Kensington high street store can’t even cook a bloody piece of chicken correctly. Like eating the bland rubber sole of a shoe.

    3. I agree with everything 12.43 and 14.55 say about Wholefoods.

  2. What can be done about this? Is the KS involved?

  3. I agree that these pushy, unattractive developments, corporate uglies are ruining once lovely, charming neighbourhoods and local shopping thoroughfares. I despise them. Look at this projection compared to existing, it pushes itself forward beyond the current building line, possibly onto the public footpath and extends up and forward like a bully on the playground.

  4. The windows at the rear and side elevations mean I can be overlooked when taking a shower. The new offering provides no real amenity for Chelsea .

  5. More traffic chaos on the Kings Road and surrounding streets , not to mention the high pollution levels which will affect our childrens lungs. Why are developers so obsessed with knocking things down. Is refurb or remodelling not an option. The Carbon footprint is huge for this development. Hiw does that fit in with the Councils' Zero Carbon commitment ?

  8. Residents will fight HALJ and its unscrupulous advisers with hands tied behind their back. The planning officers are well known to DP9. DP9 make a point of recruiting ex planners: the rest best left unsaid. Worse still: that opposing residents are given just a few minutes to put their case to the committee. The Council awards community grants. These grants could be part deployed (residents could fund balance) to help residents retain planning KC's or advisers. As things stand it is an unequal battle with planning officers working closely with developers and developers able to throw money at a project.

  9. DP9 also work with Delancey, the delightful company who intend to build 40 storey buildings on the old Earl's Court site

  11. How is the application looking, how many objections? When will we know? The shipping industry tenants at 81-99 are leaving next month (not sure when M&S are closing).
