This greasy looking fellow is Camden Cllr Ian Wason. To the Dame, he looks a bit of a bounder! A sort of 'pleased with himself' accountant made good.
Wason follows in the footsteps of many a 'colonial'. Having made a fortune in South Africa he returned to the UK with plans to enter politics and throw his weight around here.
Wason made his dough flogging debt consolidation programmes to debt-stressed Africans. He calls it a 'social initiative' so at least he has a sense of humour.
Wason has invested part of his fortune buying a spread in Henley on Thames and playing 'Squire Wason' before making a bid to get selected for this safe seat.
Citizens of Henley...beware!
Wason is a thoroughly unlikeable piece of work which makes him highly suitable for a career in politics.
Is he wearing make up?
ReplyDeleteDifficult to tell. He is now very seldom seen in Kensington. Setting yourself up as the squire of Henley is hard work and takes up a lot of time. The more recent photographs of Wason on the Internet, show him with a beard that hides the South African permatan.
DeleteI am a friend on Ian's. I suppose you vile people are now going to have a go at for taking out a few ugly oak trees at his Henley home?
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this act of vandalism with the Dame. I see from the press that there were scores of trees felled by Axman Wason. But the real question is what has gone on in South Africa?
DeleteThe Dogs Bark But The Caravan Moves On....
DeleteYes of course it does, but the parvenu social entrepreneur is going to get dumped on its journey.
DeleteDear Dame, Can you help me? This Wason chap seems to have been taking his council salary while living in Henley for nearly all of his time as a Kensington Councillor. If I am right, is he the sort of chap we should have representing us in Westminster? Doesn't seem right to me, but what do you think? Is he going to stand again and take more salary?
ReplyDeleteThis is just awful. Residents don't deserve this.
ReplyDeleteI was pondering as to why there were so few comments on this cllr and then realised, of course, that he was never around to do his job. No one knows who he is!
ReplyDeleteWell, I wouldn’t say I know him well, but I did come across him several times when I was a banker in South Africa. Bags of easy charm, but I didn’t warm to him and I wouldn’t want to do business with him. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but you get good vibes and bad vibes about people.
DeleteAlways in too much of a hurry. I doubt if he has made much impression as a local councillor (not grand enough) and I would avoid voting for him as my MP like the plague. Not the slightest bit surprised that he has been taking his councillor Kensington and Chelsea salary while living 50 miles away from Kensington. Not surprised either that he has been chopping down ancient oak trees. The old saying, if I never see him again it’ll be too soon.
