Once never seen....now everywhere
At the Council meeting last Monday, Terry Oliver, director of Cleaner Greener and Cultural Services said that gully cleaning was part of Suez's contract yet NO ONE had ever seen one of these machines in operation.
Suddenly, they are everywhere....a bit like waiting for a bus for ages and then several turn up.
Residents sent the Dame images of two of these beasts. One assumes that Mr. Oliver read the Riot Act and Suez hired in a few.
Cleaning gullies is an essential part of flood prevention. Suez should be punished for breaching its contract and contributing to the floods.
Incidentally, Mr. Oliver's portfolio seems odd....street cleaning & Culture don't spring to mind as bedfellows.
you rarely see gully cleaning at all , suddenly you get the odd one here and there to show willing, it will soon drop off again once they think the residents have been fooled in ot thinking they actually do care about blocked drains, flooding and general filth
