"PERMISSION KLAXON after a long summer & a lot of back and forth we have a good news update.
A huge thank you to all of you for your vital support, a massive thanks to ELF Law and our pro-bono legal team, today we succeeded in being granted a full hearing for Judicial Review of RBKC ripping out the lane on High St Ken
What’s next?
For the JR we’ll wait to get a date for the hearing & swap notes with WeAreCyclingUK. We’ll keep campaigning to make our streets safer, greener and fairer. And we hope RBKC take a breath & turns a page - we’ll be more than happy to help.
Again, thank you all!
JK
It's a shame they are not as vocal about the potholes which pepper our roads, a danger to both cyclists and motorists. This a faceless pressure group made up of non-residents funded by a Cycling charity trying to force Kensington & Chelsea residents to pay for their cycle lane. Next year there will be fewer cars on London roads because of Sadiq Khan's ULEZ extension and many have left the city during the pandemic; there will be ample space for cyclists who continue, along with e-scooters, not to obey the Highway Code.
ReplyDeleteEnvironmental Law Foundation claim they "...Help The Voices of Ordinary People To Be Heard and Respected" but it is the ordinary residents of this borough who are not being heard and it would be good if the council would acknowledge them.
Campbell & Co need to make a decision on this lane before Local Elections next year. Any indecision or delay till after the local election would cast doubt in residents' minds and see this as kicking the can.
I just remember the Emergency services having real trouble during that time due to the traffic; the busses too especially when it got stuck on the barriers which cause tailbacks.
ReplyDeleteThink Jeremy Clarkson filmed this while a black cab explained what happened.
