Disabled Childrens Charity Pressured By Council

The ongoing saga of finding suitable premises for Full of Life continues.
For those who don't know the website tells you all you need to know about this credit to the Royal Borough.www.fulloflifekc.com.

So you would think councillors and officers would bend over backwards to assist the work of Full of Life? It is far from the case. In fact, the Council has given more help to billionaire Terence Conran in locating his Design Museum: it even provided a near £3million loan, at a nominal interest rate, to help out the poor chap!
But then of course, two very self important people like Cockell and Moylan do so love to consort with the rich and powerful! Moylan got terribly excited when meeting a brace of dukes buying Holland Park School's playing fields.

Moylan, also fancies himself as a bit of a dilettante- even spending time lobbying for drawing lessons at Leighton House. Perhaps better he had put his back into helping relocate Full of Life
But on the plus side Full of Life owes a huge debt to Cllr Ritchie......
IF WE REALLY CARE THEN WE NEED TO CALL OUR COUNCILLORS-ALL OF THEM-AND SAY WE WANT ACTION OR THEY WILL LOSE A VOTE!!

Ritchie...Full of Life's Champion

Not only did Cllr Ritchie find the premises for Full of Life, but she remains massively supportive in ensuring that they can stay where they are-or have alternative suitable premises found. Another councillor who has been a huge support is Judith Blakeman.

Frank Redmond, a parent explained, The work of Full of Life is not about dumping kids in a facility to play and give parents a rest.
Our young people have very complex needs. They need a structured and purposeful day. Our staff   are amazing; theirs is a job you cannot do without love and commitment.  Without the services Full of Life provide families we would not be able to cope. My daughter has been in hospital since last Friday with uncontrolled seizures and the doctors are having difficulty bringing them under control. Between Friday and Tuesday this week the amount of seizures she had were documented on 15 A4 pages. And because she also has severe learning difficulties someone has to be with her twenty four hours a day,”

Two weeks ago Full of Life were told that Borough Officers, surveyors and contractors would be visiting to inspect the Full of Life building to see what alternations they would have to make for the new unit. Naturally they were refused access and nothing further has been heard.
Councillors, stop the bullying of this unique and valuable resource. It is worth a thousand useless Exhibition Roads'

As usual the Dame selected a sage comment which Cockell and crew would do well to note-if their only interest is NOT having to spend OUR money on those LESS fortunate...

"There has been a systematic but 'silent' slashing of support services for disabled people in this and other boroughs. Why? because these people and their parents (who are exhausted to their core) don't have a loud voice, they don't vote, and are completely irrelevant to politicians and their lackeys.

If the Borough wants to go down the financial route look at what Full of Life is saving local taxpayers, by not having to fund emergency and extremely expensive residential places for these young people when their families can't cope anymore. This is not taking into consideration the trauma parents and brothers and sisters have to face if they simply cant care anymore.

This tiny charity is a beacon of light, of old fashioned community values, and love, in a borough lead by a bunch of mindless, egotistical people who are literally allowed to pour our money down drains, into pavements and tin elephants. Rather than ensuring charities such as Full of Life who are our communities backbone have security to continue their great work.

Full of Life saves this Borough literally millions in pounds and gives even more with its heart. Their staff are a credit to the caring profession and leaders in their field. They are the type of people everyone would want to have caring for them if they were sick or vulnerable. THAT is precisely where we will all be including Mr Cockell and his entourage.

Its about time someone did the right thing to ensure they are safe to continue their brilliant work.

Could  Sir Terence Conran help? By giving something back?

  1. What on earth does Cllr Cockell think he is doing? Allowing this bullying to take place??

Useless Leader, concerned only with nicking council tax to pay for expensive dinners for friends in New York where he likes to travel (First Class) courtesy of taxpayers.

And to ride to Heathrow in the Bentley (when the Dame is not looking)

  2. This is a PR disaster for the Council. How can they allow this harassing to take place alongside stories of £100 million to rebuild a perfectly good school (ref Building Schools For The Future assessment of Holland Park School) and spending £30 million to import pink granite from China to tart up Exhibition Rd?

What on earth does the rodent Cockell think is expected of him?

  3. Sad, sad, sad

Says it all about the Cockell Leadership

  4. This is taking place on Cllr Campbell's watch.

Apart from doing a Maggie Thatcher and quoting The Bible in her speech to the last Council meeting, what is she doing?

Wake up girl, your job and £53k SRA is supposed to be more than yuppy fun

  5. Sounds like the typist may have done something useful. Credit where it is due

  6. This is bad. Really bad.

Cllr Nicholas Freeman will be turning in his grave.

  7. Cllr Campbell needs her £53k SRA to pay for the boy at Eton. She had better put her skids on.....

  8. The intellectually challenged Campbell (in the great tradition of Palmer) will need help and advice about exactly where the Charity is located, what it does, and why it is important.

Volonteers (with lots of patience)who are prepared to hold the hand of this rather shrill councillor are invited to contact the Dame

  9. Only Christians need apply to hold the hand of Cllr Campbell

  10. Pity all the vulnerable children in the Rotten Borough with Councillor Campbell at the helm.
Anyone who has had any dealings with Councillor Campbell will be able to identify that she does not posses either the intelligence or the integrity to serve them well. In plain English, she is as thick as two short planks and solely owes her grand position and excessive salary to being one of Pootin's poodles! Disgrace.

  11. 9.17 I fear you are right. The woman's reputation carries all before it.

We can only hope for a miracle - or that she has the humility to gather some wise advice to her bosom

  12. Why complain about the leadership? All we need to do is run a "Consult the People" Campaign, offering awveral optionson the extent to which RBKC shpuld support Full of Life. With 80,000 votes, RBKC MUST pay attention

  13. Shame on them all, taking from children with special needs and compromising their stability!!!!

  14. It would seem to me that Cllr Cockell hasn't got the fogiest idea about how to appropriatly distribute funds, I mean £30 million for granite...******, I really dont know how Cllr Cockell can parade his face around Kensington & Chelsea with such bravado while innocent children, who desperatly need good facilities, are being denied this opportunity because of his flamboyance.
Cllr Cockell! If you are reading this then please prove everyone wrong and show that you are a man of honour and action by doing the right thing and helping Full of Life either find new suitable premises, or funding to make changes to the current site!

  15. Full of life is a safe, fun, learning environment which acts as an extended family to their students. Some of the students are non verbal - their speech has already been taken away from them don't take away their school as well!!

  16. You would like to think that the royal borough would do all they can to safe a service which provides such valuable services to the most vunerable in society but that of course might mean cutting into the budget for useless features around the borough and council dinners.

    ReplyDelete
  17. How could they even consider displacing a service which they should be heralding as an example of good practise. I've seen full of life staff in action and the work they do is truely incredible and sets them apart from any other service.

  18. Shame on the borough and shame on Barlby school

  20. Sometimes, someone simply has to do the right thing. Secure this great Charity.

  21. To Cllr Cockell,

If you will not listen to the people, who do the caring, or to your own staff, nor do you listen to the concerned voters of Kensington…. who will you listen to...

Perhaps you should listen to the leader of the Conservatives?

"...So that's the next obvious lesson: let's listen to parents more. After all, parents are the people who really understand their children's needs - and nowhere is this more true than in families where a child is disabled........I hope I've demonstrated how committed the Conservative Party is to leading a new understanding of autism in our society"

  22. Nicholas Holgate is someone who could get things moving here. One of the Council's best officers

  23. Once again the Council is bullying vulnerable people making cuts where more money should be invested and giving more to the institutions that have a lot as it is and you call this justice???

  24. This is the Borough that denied the existence of disable children….

  25. My daughter has been going to FUll of life for many many years. The staff are absolutely amazing, they provide a structured caring enviroment for my daughter to reach her potential. the vulnerable young adults and children lead a very busy life from learning life skills to staring in productions, to rock climbing, working with horses, to name only but a few of the experiences that they are exposed to. Without Full of Life my daughter would not have no life. So please please don't take away their building. From a very worried mum...

  26. shame on you all, i hope you never know what these parents and siblings are going through on a day to day basis. the work that the full of life staff do is invaluable to the families who use the facilities. they give dignity and a semblance of "normal" life to these wonderful kids who without them would be drugged up so they would be unable to be heard. just remember that you have to answer for all that you do at some stage. what will you say cllr cockell ?

  27. This is a total disgrace and the Council should be ashamed of itself.

Those attending Full of Life are not a commodity that can be shifted around from pillar to post - and shame on you for having this uncertainty hanging over their heads.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Full of Life are a VITAL part of the community who protect and support some of the most vulnerable young people and their families in the Borough. How can a charity who has just won a "Dignity in Care" award be swept aside like this? Years and years of love, expertise and dedication have been poured into making Full of Life what it is now and to see how the staff and young people work together is breathtaking. They MUST be protected and supported and a permanent housing solution found for them. There is too much to lose and everything to gain by fighting for them. Yes, shame on Cllr Cockell so far. If it's money that's his concern then Full of Life have been saving him millions so he can buy the pink granite etc. Just think of what he can save in future if he saves them!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Cllr Cockell is a totally insensitive Leader about any matter that does not involve personal advantage or promotion of the Cockell EGO

Absolutely the worst kind of representative. But the wheel comes around. He will be visited by the pox

    ReplyDelete
  30. Or worse.....

    ReplyDelete
  31. The only way RBKC has held its rates constant is to reduce net spend on services through categories like care services. There is no transparency in their publications at to how much has been saved in eliminating 'non-jobs', reducing salaries and fringes etc. Time for the nation's greatest blight, Councils, to be held to account.

  32. John, welcome to the house of Cockell

That Master of obfuscation, dark corners and personal indulgence

    ReplyDelete
  33. Where is Cllr Elizabeth Campbell in all of this? It is one thing slagging off Cllr Cockell but she is in the Cabinet to look after children.

Not a single word from her. Too busy having yuppy fun. Looking up Biblical quotes for her Council speeches, drawing her huge SRA to send her boy to Eton and bragging at her Chelsea dinner parties "Darling, and do you know what that ghastly Labour councillor wrote about me in the Hornet?"

Baggage. Pure baggage. What a sorry state of decay in Hornton Street.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Cllr Elizabeth Campbell is also a Board Member of the TMO - another disaster area of housing for the poor in North Kensington.

Has Cllr Campbell EVER traveled North of Holland Park Avenue? God operates there too so she would not be alone

    ReplyDelete
  35. From time to time Councillors tell me that blogs on the Hornet are unfair to them and sometimes tell downright lies!

I always reply robustly that this is the simplest thing in the world to put right. Just blog back with the correct facts. It is the easiest thing in the world to do. It is the beauty of the Internet.

But beware. When the Dame has Freedom of Information details that show $416 to entertain disgraced Cllr Clement to dinner in New York and the true cost of tax payer subsidy to Holland Park Opera being more than TWICE that which is declared by the council propaganda machine, aggrieved councillors need to be very careful with their rebuttals.....

The councillors have been forbidden by Cockell from contact the site

    ReplyDelete
  37. 9.54, it is at least possible for Cllr Cockell himself to blog on the Hornet and put us right!!

Unless of course he is also banning himself (we live in hope). Wily rodent that he is, it is always amusing to hear the poodles doing his dirty work for him. Like the Mayor at the last Council meeting stating on three occasions that "for the record Cllr Cockell does not use my car".

Well the Dame has her Freedom of Information records that show he did use the car. Twenty one times in one year.

The mayor should respect her office and stay out of politics.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Just like the Chief Executive should stay out of politics.

Derek Myers stated on record that he authorized Cllr Cockell's use of the Bentley "in order to save taxi fares".

Wise up Mayor, your on a loser with this one.

  39. Scribe et al,

Its interesting that these Councillors always bring issues back to how they feel, rather than how local residents feel. What about the disabled young people and their families who attend Full of Life for whom this service is crucial and in some cases lifesaving?

Too many parents of disabled children and young people have jumped from bridges and died from overdoses simply because of lack of support, this story is not about the Councillors feelings, its about local vulnerable people being treated appallingly.

In fact this Blog has been more than fair to Councillors, highlighting the outstanding ones and making sure that we know who the bad apples are. Without the Dame we would never have the opportunity to scrutinise in one place exactly what happens in our name, as their scrutiny committees are as self indulgent as the big spender's.

The monies this Council manages is our money, it is not theirs to gift to their mates, they have a duty to their residents, the Dame consistently reminds them of this and if they don't like it then stand aside. The Dame is the only independent check and balance that residents have.

Full of Life, their children and parents need our support, its up to our local community to make sure the Council know that this is what the residents, our community want and to remember who they actually work for.

  40. The values taught at Barlby School, and the values of Councillors who cannot see what Full of Life achieves, are incomprehensible. I thought we had moved on from the days when disabled people were so discriminated against. What is going on IS discrimination, and it sickens me.

  41. it shows the priority the council gives to the most vulnerable adult in the borough.
    pitiful really

  42. Councillors should represent the people, not the pavement, of the borough. If certain councillors believe their pink vanity projects should be built at the expense of our disabled children's welfare, let's remind them of who will vote them out of office!

    ReplyDelete
  43. As a Conservative voter I don't think what has happened to Full of Life represents Conservative values. The only values seem to be how much money Cockell can screw for himself
