A loyal reader has pointed the Dame in the direction of Rock Feilding Mellen and this excellent update on his new career promoting magic mushrooms. READ HERE
Imperial College and other esteemed research centres have well funded programmes looking into psilocybin as an alternative treatment for trauma(is Feilding Mellen offering free treatment to Grenfell victims?)
The question is whether Feilding Mellen and his mother are the correct people to sell psilocybin treatment courses. Imperial, for example, is rigorous in ensuring subjects for treatment trials are suitable.
The research team knows psilocybin is not necessarily suitable for some subjects.
And why was a mere inexperienced 'child' like Feilding Mellen ever given the opportunity to use K&C as a playset?
The gross irresponsibility of allowing someone ignorant of business to run a council defies belief.
The blame lies at the door of Pooter Cockell.
Pooter comes from a lower middle-class family with high social aspirations.
He hoped by sponsoring the foolish fop Feilding Mellen he might rub shoulders with The Quality...as the low orders like Pooter refer to their social betters.
He had even ordered a tailor-made 'country gentlemens' suit for the anticipated shooting weekends chez Her Ladyship.
Just another of the idiot Cockell's mistakes.

ReplyDeleteMatt Butler, an academic psychiatrist at King’s College London, is concerned that the substantial commercial interest in psychedelics will lead to them being ushered into the mainstream prematurely. “There are pressures to get things pushed forward,” he says. “The results are promising, but I think we need to do more research. There are lessons from the 50s, 60s and 70s, when psychedelics were pushed through quite quickly and things didn’t end well.” https://www.theguardian.com/science/2023/aug/19/therapeutic-potential-hallucinogens-risky-overhyped-lsd-mdma-psilocybin-work
DeleteHas the Dame ever considered selling her bottled acid?
ReplyDeleteMellon is a lost boy from a lost mother. Of course the two calamities stick together. They have to. The family are bonkers. They drill holes in their heads (yes, they actually do) to get highs. It defies the imagination to understand why disgraced ex Cllr Pooter Cockle became transfixed by this pretty boy, brought him onto the RBKC Council and then made him Deputy Leader.
DeleteIt is incorrect to describe me as Lower Middle Class. I have been described elsewhere as a Tory Grandee
ReplyDeleteOh, listen to him! He's jealous of me now that I am an aristo like my friend Lord Bailey of the Ghetto
ReplyDeleteDanny was a much needed wake up call on the Conservative benches of RBKC
DeleteYou are working class Birmingham. Just because you had elocution lessons doesn't make you Middle Class like me
ReplyDeleteBottle it, Pooter
DeleteAsked if he had read the LFB guide when the Grenfell Tower refurbishment was happening, Mr Feilding-Mellen said: “No. I failed to do that, and based on what I know has happened, I regret having failed to do that. “I at the time was conscious that there were many layers of people with what I thought was the relevant expertise and indeed the role to check the health and safety generally, including fire safety aspects, of a refurbishment project like this.” He was then shown a passage of the guidance which specifically advised “not to make assumptions” that fire safety was being properly dealt with. “On what you have told us this morning, Mr Feilding-Mellen, you were making exactly the assumption that this document advised you should not make,” said Mr Millett. “That appears to be the case,” Mr Feilding-Mellen replied.
ReplyDeleteGrenfell Tower Inquiry
Feilding Mellen's failings were legion. However, at the forefront of these failings was the contempt with which he treated normal residents of RBKC especially those living in social housing. Had his own family lived in a tower block he would have made sure that all aspects of health and safety were covered. As it was, he concerned himself, solely, with chosing the colour of the facade. Wonder how he sleeps at night?
DeleteYes, Fielding Mellen has much to reproach himself over the Grenfell Tower tragedy. But is he the only one?
DeleteOn the 1st October, The Daily Express reported................................
"After the Grenfell Tower blaze, Miss Dent Coad criticised the Tory council, blaming “poor quality materials and construction standards”.
But as a councillor she was on Kensington and Chelsea’s housing scrutiny committee, that oversees “community safety issues”, until May 2014.
A 2014/15 report, in which she is named, says it scrutinised work at Grenfell.
Kensington’s ex-Tory MP, Victoria Borwick, said Miss Dent Coad shared “collective responsibility” for the work."
at 09.02 above.
DeleteEmma Dent Coad has tried to put much distance between herself and the Grenfell Tower refurbishment. She was on the TMO from 2008 to 2012 and did not speak out despite people telling about the badness at the TMO. She played along with the Tories, toeing the collective responsibility line, as every radical left winger must whilst she was on the TMO Board. It was only after the Grenfell fire that she became very forthcoming with her condemnation about the TMO.
Fielding Mellen has faced up to his wrong doing.
TMO incompetence definitely had a significant hand to play in the Grenfell refurbishment disaster.
DeleteIncompetent Executive Directors, incompetent employees and incompetent Board members were all part and parcel of the problem.
Labour Councillors' role in the TMO's failings cannot be played down. Labour was supposed to be the opposition and they did not oppose tenant mismanagement.
Joe Powell would never suck up to the Tories overs something as important as housing.
I agree with 22.18. Joe Powell would not give way to expediency.
DeleteFielding Mellen treated Council tenants with contempt. Some Labour Councillors listened to Council tenants but did not want to do anything about the TMO. Dent Coad said on the BBC, "There was nothing an opposition councillor could do" about the TMO.
What's the point of opposition councillors if they can do nothing about something so bad? God gave them a brain and a tongue - they should have used them.
I wonder if lLadbrokes would give me odds on the Grenfell Tower Inquiry Report taking both Labour and Tory Councillors to task for not dealing with the complaints that they received about the TMO properly or seriously?
DeleteLabour Councillors do have to share responsibility for their apparent failure
Deleteto pursue complaints that were brought to their attention about the TMO. Greg Hands MP also ignored issues about the TMO which I reported to him.
Kensington's left wing councillors have been partisan about the Grenfell fire for far too long asserting, "it is all the bastard Tories fault." Whilst Kensington Tories have to accept responsibility for their housing management failures and the deaths of 72 people, blame also lies fairly and squarely at the door of any councillor including Labour one's who gave the TMO their blessing and who cocked a deaf 'en when Council tenants brought complaints to them about the TMO.
DeleteEDC "cocked a deaf en" when people complained to her about the TMO. Blakeman was on the TMO for a long time too and was not always on the side of the person complaining.
DeleteHope Moore Bick notes comments at 21.18, 17.54 and 16.12 above
DeleteThe Dame is yet again to be congratulated for dredging up specimens such as Moylan and Feilding-Mellen for further public scrutiny. It's unbelievable that such appalling people were ever nominated for election to the Council. Lest we forget!
ReplyDeleteYou are right. The Dame does an excellent job dredging up Moylan, Cockell and Fielding Mellen for further scrutiny and public ridicule. However, the good lady is not partisan, she also keeps the double barrelled Corbynite left winger, Emma Dent Coad, in the spotlight for criticism and much ridicule.
DeleteThis truly pathetic post from Fielding - Mellin is too shocking to be funny about . Nowhere does this arrogant son of privilege accept any culpability for the Grenfell tragedy & seeks to detract from his responsibility by claiming it had multiple causes . Surely it is generally accepted that a major cause of the disaster was RFM's requirement to cut the budget beyond any sensible or safe limit ? And then he whines that the reaction against him made him feel bad .And then he seems to use the tragedy to promote his mushroom business. He must be an Etonian as he seems completely without regard d for anyone or anything except himself .
ReplyDeleteRock should dig himself in deep with or without his magic mushrooms and never be seen out in daylight again
