LABOUR LEFT LEADERLESS
Emma Dent Coad has decided the Labour Party is no longer her party and left to pursue other interests....she is going to become an Inde cllr bit surely she should stand at a byelection so a proper good bye can be given?
By-election isn’t needed. If it is, why don’t the tories call a general election seeing as 99.9% of the population of this country didn’t vote for the current prime minister
ReplyDeleteNo parallel at all. Voters voted for a Labour cllr not an Inde
DeleteWell said, voters in St. Helen's Ward voted for a Labour person, not an independent. If you are so popular with voters, Emma, then resign and seek re-election.
DeleteSo you are really laying down the gauntlet to a Turncoat.
DeleteWe all knew that Emma's values were inconsistent with the Labour Party's values. She will probably stand for parliament with Corbyn's lot.
ReplyDeleteI think you are 100% correct
DeleteI wouldn’t be surprised
DeleteAnd lets just see how many votes she gets !
ReplyDeleteI shouldn't think she will do well if she does stand for parliament again. If she lost again, her amour de soi would be tested to the limit.
DeleteFelicity Buchan will get back in if EDC stands &; takes Labour votes away.
DeleteWithout the Labour badge , Dent Coad's vote would be microscopic. She has never been personally popular with electors. For her own sake it is to be hoped that she goes quietly and with whatever dignity she can muster
DeleteAs long as EDC can throw a spanner in the works, she will. If Powell loses, she will say, "It should have been me standing as the Labour candidate. I would have won." Time will tell but I suspect that she will be advised by Corbyn or Abbott.
DeleteEDC's share of the vote as an Independent in the GE would be, as you say, "microscopic." She would not get in.
DeleteKensington is a very marginal constituency with majorities as low as 20 or 150 votes, Joe Powell needs every vote he can get. As EDC has not told us she will not be standing, we should assume that she will stand. The Tories would probably give her the money for the deposit so she does not suffer any losses. If she goes for it, the Tories will win and forking out the deposit for her is nothing to them.
A lost deposit would be too much to bear for EDC.
DeleteIn reply to 9.50's suggestion that the Tories might pay EDC's general election deposit; surely that's illegal? A political party cannot "pay" an opposition candidate's deposit, in order to split the vote of a second opposition candidate! Can someone please confirm that any such action is illegal.
DeleteIt is not illegal or unlawful. The Tory Party would not pay someone else's deposit because it would be bad form. There is nothing to stop an individual Tory donating the money. Political parties get their money for deposits from donations.
DeleteWill Ali get her job as Leader of the Labour Group? If he does, he will pick the very generous allowance, courtesy of the Council Tax payer, as Leader of the Opposition Group on Kensington and Chelsea Council.
ReplyDeleteDid EDC jump or was she pushed? Interestingly she doesn't say whether or not she would stand as an independent in Kensington against Joe Powell. It would be an act of absolute selfishness if she did.
ReplyDelete"Selfishness?" Egotistical - a member of the Emma Dent Coad Society.
DeleteI am certain that she wants to stand for parliament again.
Where shall we hold the Emma Dent Coad Memorial Dinner?
If EDC stands for Parliament again and splits the Labour vote I'm sure Buchan's campaign team will only be too happy to provide the champagne.
DeleteShe'll want to teach the Labour Party a lesson. If she is not the Labour candidate at the General Election then she'll make sure that Labour loses by putting her name down and splitting the vote. Flicka Buchan for the Tories will be returned. Emma is mean enough to do that to Kensington. A year ago, she thought that all she had to do was to see off Ian Henderson a decent popular man who would have been marvellous for Kensington.
DeleteIf EDC stands for Westminster again, it would show just how spiteful and nasty she is.
DeleteCorbyn and Abbott have had Labour's Parliamentary Whip withdrawn. As far as I am aware they are both still members of the Labour Party. Emma has gone a stage further with her resignation from the Party. She'll be no loss.
DeleteA few weeks ago, EDC was very bitter when Ali was attempting to replace her. She gave the impression that she was staying put and was going to tough it out- fair do's. Perhaps, Ali has been working in the background and now has enough support to oust her and take over in the role of being in charge of Labour Councillors. Politics is filthy! It would have been humiliating if history repeated itself ten years after Atkinson ousted her.
ReplyDeleteWhilst she has undeniably had some good intentions for the people of Kensington, Emma and her cabal in Kensington CLP bulldozed many decent and honourable people in the Labour Party with her control freakery and frankly nasty tactics. She has three very lonely years ahead of her on the Council and an independent, and most of her professional and social contacts in the Labour Party (to which she has devoted years of her life) will no longer be available to her. Karma's a bitch.
ReplyDeleteLabour Councillors should isolate her in the Council Chamber. Labour Councillors should not collaborate with her in St. Helen's Ward. She'll still get her very generous Councillor's Allowance.
DeleteI have no need of making a comment because you have put into words my feelings far better than I could. She managed to get me out of the Labour Party which I supported since the 1970’s. As you you so rightly said ‘Karma is a bitch’.
DeleteRemember Ian Henderson for helping out at a Foodbank whilst the Tory MP was there, Pat Healy for a convenient retirement, Monica Press and a number of others. Good riddance to EDC.
DeleteThe Party did not leave Emma Dent Coad. We found out what she was really like - aristocratic, classist, snobbish and racist. All of which made her unpopular.
ReplyDeleteShe was never suitable to run on a Labour ticket.
I agree but what does that say about the people who surrounded her for all that time.
DeleteThey are, in all probability, on message with Emma's "aristocratic, classist, snobbish and racist" views.
DeleteIt says they have extremely poor sense of judgement that's what it says. Some of them actually thought Ali would make a fantastic MP
DeleteFor Kensington ffs.
Emma didn’t endorse him
DeleteWas that based on race or his odious personality
DeleteEmma managed to turn Corbyns slogan ' For the many not the few ' into 'For the few not the many' .
DeleteShe's thrown her toys out of her pram.
ReplyDeleteDear Dame,
ReplyDeleteEmma's behaviour when she was in the Labour Party was far from dignified and exemplary. Now is the time for Emma to keep with good taste and propriety and bow out of politics altogether. She is gaffe prone and lacks the sophisticated thought processes to practice politics appropriately.
Very glad she's gone. She's divisive.
ReplyDeleteKensington Labour's problems aren't over however. EDC hasn't ruled out standing against Powell for the seat. Then they still have a group of mostly very weak and underwhelming Labour councillors failing their residents as well as lacking the ability to scrutinise and challenge the council effectively.
ReplyDeleteShe was that miserable she had no toys.
ReplyDeleteEmma Coad could not face being dethroned at the council nor watch Powell win the election . She never really put others before her own ego and her need to accumulate titles yet simultaneously claim to be a hard left acolyte. many claim her to be childish and undignified at local party meetings, often seen making faces at those she disagrees with. She also invested most of her energy working to create a hard left cabal to the detriment of democracy.
ReplyDeleteCreation of "a hard left cabal" by Trotskite entryism.
DeleteI have seen Emma's ill concealed grimaces when she doesn't like what people say at meetings. I have seen her do a mirthless wince when someone with a working class accent says something which she hasn't cleared or approved in advance.
DeleteWell she was big into accent shaming along with Lari.
Delete"Accent shamming" is as bad as racism.EDC would be quick to complain if someone did a sham accent of a Spaniard. Despicable!
DeleteIt is a pity that Emma did not leave the Party when the Party stated that she would not be allowed to stand at the next General Election. I think she is now paying the price for doing down Ian Henderson, Pat Healy, Monica Press, and Clare Simmonds.
ReplyDeleteWhat has Emma Dent Coad done to Claire Simmons? Nothing.
DeleteIt is what Emma Dent Coad has done to Ian Henderson, Pat Healy and Monica Press that you have managed to overlook most conspicuously.
DeleteSimmons is one of EDC's bunch & someone who has assisted with the doing down. Remember when she called the old bill on Pat Healey?
DeleteI'm sure that Emma Dent Coad was behind the plot to report Pat to the police. EDC, like all Marxists, would plumb the depths of moral corruption for power. Repulsive Behaviour.
DeleteEmma Dent Coad told Socialist Worker she realised, "There was no option but to leave" the Labour Party. One of her reasons for leaving was “Diane Abbott being suspended." Diane Abbott MP was rightly suspended for expressing racism in a letter to The Observer. Even John McDonnell MP said, "Diane knows she was wrong." I admire people who speak their minds and I give Diane credit for doing that even though I disagree with her.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that Emma has only just found all of these principles. Emma drew a picture of a black man being hanged and put it on the internet. She was eternally grateful to Corbyn for doing nothing about her racism. He did nothing even after receiving a complaint addressed to him personally from two Black Members of Parliament. Emma's loyalty was cast in stone from that moment on. After all, Racism to a Black Tory is nothing to worry about.
When Margaret Hodge MP had the effrontery to call Jeremy Corbyn an "antisemite," on account of him doing nothing about one of his mates describing Jews, a few hours earlier, "Donald Trump fanatics" and for endorsing antisemitic street art, the good Corbyn could not take it. He instituted disciplinary proceeding against Margaret Hodge MP.
Why didn't Emma leave the Labour Party then over Corbyn's racism? I suppose racism to people who are generally white skinned, (the Jews, the Irish, and Travellers) does not count in the minds of Emma Dent Coad and Diane Abbott MP.
and don't forget racism to a Black Tory was excused because Emma is on the hard left.
Deletecan you explain why someone who sent her kids to a private boarding school is talking to the Socialist Worker ?
Deleteand, more importantly, Dirk, why the Trots on Socialist Worker are talking to a woman who sent her kids to an exclusive private school and let us not forget a woman who has form for racism.
DeleteHas Connie Blott also resigned from the Labour Party?
ReplyDeleteIf Connie Blott is still in Labour, she may be led by that mother of hers to cause trouble.
DeleteI’m sure her privately educated children don’t have the time to be a bourgeois Marxist/Tankie like their mother.
DeleteThe Chief Hornet says, we have played our part in her downfall.
ReplyDeleteInstead of being indignant that Diane Abbott MP is being disciplined by the PLP, it would have been more appropriate if Emma, a self proclaimed proud anti-racist, had condemned Diane's racism and antisemitism. Has she taken leave of her senses?
DeleteEmma,
ReplyDeleteThere are worse crimes than loyalty! Diane Abbott's racism is one of them.
I would be surprised if Emma Dent Coad learns a salutary lesson, 13.43.
ReplyDeleteEmma's support of her mates on the far left is commendable but she is misguided and wrong. Diane Abbott MP should not be allowed to serve as a Labour MP. This time she has gone too far.
Diane Abbott MP talked about Blacks being made to sit at the back of the bus in America. Consider the six million Jews who were gassed between 1941 and 1945. They were shoved in to cattle truck trains, with no seats, to travel for days to Death Camps to face extermination. Racism and genocide.
Hymie Wiseman.
An Irish Jew.
It is difficult for a left wing control freak to be finished in politics. Emma can buy Diane a cake in Fortnum's Tea Salon.
DeleteDiane treated Emma to a cake when Labour let Emma off over racism to Shaun Bailey.
I expect Emma will run after some more resignations this week in the LP nationally.
ReplyDeleteWho do you think will resign?
DeletePerhaps she may drag some of the local councillors to resign as well to feed the movement of her ego worship.
DeleteEmma Dent Coad has an ego alright equal in quality to Boris Johnson's.
DeleteHe got the looks though.
DeleteDear Gracious Dame,
ReplyDeletePlease tell us how many views this page has had in the four days that it has been running?
Let's have the figs, Dame.
ReplyDeleteWell, so far 650 and rising sharply daily
Delete600 of them were from Dent Coad !
DeleteNothing would surprise me about that one 19.16.
DeleteGolly Gosh, Dame. 650 views so far. No doubt a substantial number viewed this page on the same day that you received 1400 views.
ReplyDeleteGolly Gosh no...the Hornet gets some 900-1200 on a fairly regular basis when tackling the inequities of 'foolish ones'. You have to more quick witted to outwit the old Dame.
DeleteGee Dame. I hope that now Emma Dent Coad has put herself out to grass in the Labour Party that local meetings will be less factional and more comradely.
ReplyDeleteIt strikes me that Dent Coad was the glue holding the ruling cabal together. Emma's minions like Sina Lari both enabled and depended on Dent Coad for advancement. It seems extremely likely that Joe Powell will be Kensington's MP after the next general election and he owes the Emma cabal nothing. With good organisation (and even using fair tactics!), more sensible people can take over Kensington CLP with the backing of a good MP. Don't forget also that a few wards from Westminster are coming into Kensington under the new parliamentary boundaries. These new members should have no allegiance to the current CLP leadership.
DeleteAs for RBKC councillors, the current crop are in place until the next set of elections in 2026. Councillor selection starts with the Local Government Committee (which also includes Chelsea). The LGC determines who is allowed on the list of approved candidates. They can and do kick sitting councillors off the list. Then it's about getting "bums in seats" at the ward selection meetings to finalise the candidates. It will take time and organisation, but without the "glue" that Dent Coad provided there is opportunity for Kensington Labour to turn things around.
EDC is a nasty Miss.
Deleteas you say, 13.20, "EDC is a nasty Miss."
DeleteWe could have had Ian Henderson as our MP if Dent Coad had not done the dirty.
DeleteWe could have a Tory MP if Lari slithers his way through the process and feints to be a moderate again in the Labour circles.
DeleteShe was so cocky that she would be selected as the next person to represent us. The dirty tricks used against Ian Henderson virtually guaranteed her selection. It all ended in devastation when Labour said, "no" to Dent Coad.
DeleteGlad you are confident that Joe Powell should do
DeletePity the Party's local government Committee did not see off the Dent Coad and her supporters last time.
Glad you are confident that Joe Powell should do
DeletePity the Party's local government Committee did not see off the Dent Coad and her supporters last time.
The resurrection of Kensington CLP is already well under way . The poisonous Kear is gone and the eminently sensible Monica Press has taken his place . The only surviver of the previous dynasty appears to be the sinister Sina Lari & who knows, if he keeps his nose clean he may yet survive as a born again Starmerite
ReplyDeleteLari is as unprincipled as Dent Coad. I knew that Kensington Labour would turn itself around if we got rid of her. We have had some great Labour Councillors - Atkinson, Henderson, Press, Healy and Blakeman.
DeleteHopefully Monica Press and Ian Henderson will now make a come back to local Labour politics.
DeleteAbbott and Corbyn blame the existence of NATO for Putin's invasion of Ukraine. They understand the insecurities of this genocidal maniac whose troops have bombed civilians and raped women over there.
ReplyDeleteCoad has refused to tell our Glorious and Resplendent Lady, the Omnipotent Dame Hornet of Hornton Street, if she agrees with them and backs Putin. We can only assume that she is on message with her idol Jeremy Corbyn. The Socialist Worker Party would offer her a political home. Glad she is no longer in the Labour Party.
I am now looking forward to a sane Labour Government.
Everyone will be better off with EDC unable to hold on at the next local elections. She's borderline bonkers at the very best.
ReplyDelete'Borderline' - that's generous
DeleteIt is hard to think of a former national politician in Kensington who has been personally disliked as much as Emma Dent Coad - Labour voters and the national party do not like her. It is no good saying that people vote for policies, not individuals, because in Kensington that is not true. She got too big for boots after the General Election in 2019.
DeleteGod bess our graceless Emma,
ReplyDeleteGod bless our classy Emma,
God bless Emma,
Send her defeated,
unhappy and inglorious,
longing to be superior to us,
God save our Emma.
I think you could have weaved in the adjectives "egotistical" and "aristocratic" in to the St Helen's Anthem.
DeleteOk, aristocratic, egotistical, I've done my best.
ReplyDeleteGod bless our aristocratic Emma,
God bless our arrogant Emma,
God save Emma,
Send her notorious,
Socialist, egotistical and inglorious,
Longing to be better than all of us,
God save Emma.
Her resignation from the Labour Party was strategically political and newsworthy on the day. It is today's fish and chips.
ReplyDeleteTime for a by-election to elect a LABOUR Councillor who will help Keir Starmer build a decent society .
She won't resign because she knows that if she stands she will lose her seat on the Council.
DeleteShe wants her Councillor's Allowance too. Did you know that she claimed that at the same time that she drew her fabulous parliamentary salary.
DeleteIn the 1950's there was a denture cleaner called, "Dentural." Is it true that a member of Emma's family put this denture cleaning solution in to manufacture and made a fortune? I hear it even had a Royal Warrant.
ReplyDeleteA Royal Warrant indeed! That would be something Emma would like to crow about.
DeleteEmma's aristocratic credentials are very important to her. When she slagged off Prince Harry, claiming that he could not fly a helicopter and he just sat in the cockpit and went "vroom vroom" she made it clear that she had an aristocratic heritage and was "one of them."
Yes, that's right. EDC claimed to be aristocratic which was grist to her mill for abolishing the monarchy. Her aristocratic background was pertinent for demanding abolition. She gave a newspaper interview about being related to Christopher Columbus and the Borgias. I didn't know that Columbus was aristocratic. Alfonso de Borja was top drawer. Catherine de Medici was even mentioned.
DeleteShe left the Labour Party with a whimper - not with a shout.
ReplyDeleteI’m reporting your comment to the police if the ‘dame’ doesn’t remove it. ‘Off with her head’ is a credible death threat.
ReplyDeleteDAME: Remove the comment above.
she is off 'er head...better?
ReplyDelete21.06 has had a sense of humour bypass.
ReplyDeleteDame,
Take no notice of threats made on behalf of Emma Dent Coad. She should have been prosecuted for racist abuse- drawing a picture of a black man being hanged is far worse than treating the aristocratic Emma to a Golborne Gallows' Humour.
Emma went rushing off to Notting Hill Police Station, in 2019, full of righteous indignation demanding that Sam Gymiah face prosecution.
ReplyDeleteWhat did the Police do?
Nothing!
They gave her short shrift. She couldn't believe it because she had Counsel's Opinion from a Labour QC.
Corbyn and Abbott are still in the Party. Emma is all alone, out in the cold.
ReplyDeleteCorbyn and Abbott will be grateful to Emma for sacrificing herself for both of them.
If Corbyn and Abbott manage to wheedle their way back in to the Parliamentary Party and stand as Labour candidates at the General Election, they will drop EDC like a hot cake. Socialists are fickle!
ReplyDelete
