This is an RBKC waste management vehicle parked irresponsibly for ten minutes on one of the busiest streets in Knightsbridge.
What was especially idiotic and arrogant was that there was an obvious space he could have used.
After a while, the driver sauntered back. When the Dame and others suggested his parking was dangerous and irresponsible he smirked and said, "do you want my ID".
He then drove on for a few more feet whereupon the Dame walked over and asked for his ID. He then suggested the shocked old thing"fuck off"
The Dame decided to escalate the matter to the Waste Management Dept
Of course, the outcome was predictable. The driver said the old Dame had 'chased' him and gave the impression he was scared for his life. Now the Dame may be scary but at close to eighty it is rather unlikely a strapping and muscular young man would have been frightened of her.
What this episode shows is a decline in behaviour and a lack of proper management. It is all rather sad.
We have a choice to believe the Dame or the driver. I rather trust the Dame's version. For an employee of our council to flagrantly disregard basic road safety beggars belief.
ReplyDeleteIf he was parked for over several minutes he could quite easily have used the parking space. Sheer arrogance..."I work for RBKC and do what I like. Laws to apply to me" comes to mind! Shocking example to set.
ReplyDeleteTalking of the law; RBKC is a tiny London borough, with an equally tiny, but still diminishing population. There's neither industry nor agriculture. Yet it pays £25 million a year for its waste management. That's £500,000 a week to collect and apparently recycle household waste + minor road sweepings. Businesses supposedly pay their own waste costs.
DeleteRBKC has studiously ignored a long-established, London- wide cartel. It's hardly surprising that the RBKC guy disrespected the venerable Dame. Like the Council; his masters are the waste contractors.
What bad manners and to pretend he was frightened is a real larf.
ReplyDeleteI believe the Dame. Don't believe anyone would try to get a driver into trouble. The use if the F word is incredible.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't surprise me. Council employees run the show...the elected members are impotent. Systemic bad management.
ReplyDeleteThis driver clearly has anger management issues
ReplyDeleteDisgraceful!
ReplyDeleteI remember the late Mr. Arthur complaining to Mr Hewgill of the TMO that a TMO Contractor called him an "Interfering fucking old c*nt." Standards have reached an all time low.
Now Dame, get straight on to Joe Powell MP and insist that he demands that this foul mouthed pig is sacked not for the swearing at you but for the lies he told about your conduct. If he lies about you, how could the Council be certain that he would tell the truth if he met with an accident whilst driving the Council's van and killed someone, fir example, a small child.
Why does the Council side with one of its proles and not the Dame?
My Gran lives in Knightsbridge. If this Lower Order from the Council tells her to go away so rudely, I shall offer him out.
Delete........15.50. sounds like he would be a Chelsea and Westminster job.
DeleteIf he was truly scared of the Dame, he would not have told her to fuck off. If he was scared, he would have been conciliatory and ultra polite so that the Dame did not have cause to attack him with her handbag containing a house brick.
ReplyDeleteI'll say this for Myers, he would not have tolerated this appalling behaviour from a subordinate. The Dame would have had an apology and the foul mouthed yob would be on a disciplinary.
ReplyDeleteQuite right 11:45. When the Dame sent him Cllr Phelps's lewd 'boy' images sent on RBKC server Myers had him out in a NY minute.
Delete11.15 here. Myers wasn't wrong about a lot of things.
DeleteThe yob should have been sent round to apologise to the Dame.
DeleteHoldsworth and Lawrence do not have Myers' standards. K&C has turned in to something reminiscent of Lambeth in the day of the Trotskyite, Ted Knight.
DeleteI remember querying my Council Tax at the Town Hall many years ago. A woman who was facing eviction because her Housing Benefit had not been processed said to the clerk, in sheer desperation, "fuck you." The wrath of god was brought down on her for abusing a Council Officer. A uniformed security officer was called over and she was told if she did not leave their Town Hall, the police would be called.
DeleteIf Servants of the Council are allowed to tell the Glorious Dame to "fuck off," are Council Tax payers now entitled to say, "fuck off" to Council Officers if we like.
So it's alright for Council White Van Man to swear at members of the public but god help anyone who dares to swear at the high and mighty at the Town Hall.
DeleteI bet the Council has put up a Notice saying,
ReplyDelete. "threatening, abusive or aggressive behaviour towards
. our staff will not be tolerated."
