Ballymore is hoping that they can persuade Cllr Husband and the planning officers to approve a 2,500-unit scheme at Kensal Canalside without any proper infrastructural support.
It is time that Husband be removed from chairmanship of planning: he is unfit for purpose and a puppet in the hands of the planning department.
This is an extract from the THINK blog
"It is seriously impossible to see how 2,400 homes (for that is what Ballymore plans to build) can work there when there is no station close by and there is only one road in and one road out. We also are not terribly impressed with the designs and layout; we are far from convinced that even 20% of the homes will genuinely be “affordable ” (not forgetting that taller buildings have rather expensive maintenance upkeep) and we remain completely unconvinced that Ballymore is a socially responsible developer."
"Yet, as the scale and ambition of our work grows, we never forget the importance of working to the highest standards on every individual element of every development, creating places in which people, business, culture and society can thrive."
ReplyDeleteThose property types love sniffing the white stuff. Almost as much as they love sticking their unaffordable ugly & poorly built towers up all over London.
DeleteClaptrap.
DeleteThink 16:28 means mega developers like Ballymore, DP9 & co rather than landlords small time property developers or estate agents! All that debauchery at MIPIM. Bet Dizzy really enjoyed her time there.
DeleteSerious transport infrastructure issues already exist here. The top end of Ladbroke Grove is a bottle neck with traffic jams. These problems will be made far worse by creating this new neighbourhood comprising of new housing (maybe 2,500 households), businesses and new residents (around 8,000) behind the bottle neck. Where are the necessary plans for new access roads to alleviate traffic and expanded public transport infrastructure?
ReplyDeleteMore than than 2500 homes. There are the 700 plus homes that Berkeley wants to build as well to consider. Plans not in yet.
DeleteHow will all these extra people moving through ONE single point of entry help traffic ‘flourish’ on Ladbroke Grove?
DeleteThere will be a new junction at Ladbroke Grove & more buses. Oh joy!
Delete11:36 The site has very limited options for roads to say the least. The surrounding areas are built up and the site is right next to the canal.
DeleteThey won't. If this gets through residents will be in constant dread of what would happen if there was a major emergency incident at a busy time there. Ballymore said one other road only for emergency access but that's not enough.
ReplyDeleteThe only way that amount of homes in that space could work would be if there was a crossrail station (never going to happen) and a couple of road tunnels to make it better connected (also never going to happen).
ReplyDeleteThe borough needs the additional housing. Simples !
