Months ago, Mr Nickson of Thames Water promised that flood-prone basements would be assessed to see whether a non-return valve or a FLIP would protect them. Since then ZILCH.
In the meantime, RBKC and Thames Water have been beavering away producing reports.
One imagines the combined cost of producing these reports will be around £500,000 or possibly more.
A non-return valve costs around £40.
Just imagine how many Non-Return Valves could have been fitted for the cost of all this paper?
That was the priority not thousands of exculpatory pages blaming the weather!
PS
RBKC has failed to continue the gulley cleaning programme promised post the flood.
I must have imagined Elizabeth Campbell on the BBC then talking exactly about this.
