This is the glamorous Miss Bentley, the CEO of failingThames Water.
She will be paid 'a far from' basic £750,000 a year but will receive a £3.1m “golden hello” over the next three years to compensate for loss of bonuses at Severn Trent. A further £120,000 in pensions and perks could raise her potential package to £3.27m a year.
A sewage-damaged resident wrote this to the Dame
Dear Dame
Many months ago, Cllr Lindsay & RBKC escorted Thames Water senior managers around flooded K & C premises, with offers to investigate installing anti-flood technology.
Since then, nothing has been seen or heard of these offers.
Cllr Rossi “investigated.” Since then, nothing has been heard of her or the results of her inquiries.
In typical RBKC style, a shiny new flooding officer was appointed.
Nothing has been seen or heard of him.
Certain facts are proven: during a period of heavy rain, Thames Water pumped its ‘blackwater’ (a euphemism for sewage) into hundreds of RBKC properties.
Thames Water, despite the severe weather warnings quite simply failed to switch on its massive pumps at Lots Road.
When, 2 hours after the flood, the pumps were manually turned on, the sewage instantly drained away!
TW subsequently claimed it hadn’t been able to use its pumps, because the Thames was at high tide. This is a blatant and proven lie.
The fact is that rather than installing the technology to do so remotely, the pumps are switched on manually - and no one bothered!
It is also believed that sluices built by Thames Water on Hampstead Heath were either never commissioned, or also not switched on.
As soon as it rained, RBKC’s gullies blocked up, flooding streets and hundreds more premises.
Apparently, they worked perfectly; RBKC’s gullies are actually designed to block up when it rains!
Meanwhile, Cllr Elizabeth Campbell is doubtless “busy" watching Wimbledon.
