This is the day and night scene in Hans Rd.
Lines of taxis breaking the law by parking on double yellow lines with their filthy, old fashioned clattering diesel engines pumping out thick, treacly black smoke as their engines idle. The fumes seep into homes and damage the health of young and old.
When a resident wrote to Nick Day, the Council's Contracts Team Leader he washed his hands of the problem by saying:
1. There were insufficient CEO's available to deal with the problem
2. That the taxis drove off when they spotted a CEO
Mr. Day hotly denies that the reason he cannot deploy CEO's is that they are all too busy on revenue generation activity ticketing overstays in leafy Knightsbridge squares: residents know better than Mr. Day who runs his office from Hammersmith!
The reason why we are where we are is that the Council totally cocked up the traffic management plan.
It is now desperately seeking a solution.
Mr. Day says that the taxis drive off before the CEO can issue a ticket so there is no point in having a presence.
Does Mr. Day take us for imbeciles?
When a CEO is present the taxis are not..so Mr. Day's pathetic reasoning does not stand scrutiny.
The Council has created this problem and until it resolves it permanently it needs to 100% focus on dealing with it and that means a permanent rota of CEO's and TfL staff present.
Mr. Day stupidly asks for evidence of idling CEO's.
That's as dimwitted as asking residents to take down the registration numbers of speeding supercars.
Mr. Day...your Council created the problem...deal with it!
Good old Dame! Tickle their balls in Hornton Street. Asses, most of them
ReplyDeleteCEO = ?
ReplyDeleteThat is horrible - can Councillor Pascal help?
cllr.will.pascall@rbkc.gov.ukLead Member for Streets, Planning and Transport
Cllr Pascall is just about the most useless council and should never have been given this important role. He is 'nice but thick'. He is the one who excitedly announced a 'Nespresso Capsule Recycling Scheme'....saving the planet...one capsule at a time! His wife is also a cllr so the family are raking in around £60,000 a year.
ReplyDeleteDon't bother emailing him as he never replies.
What about Kim Taylor-Smith - is he any good, does he help constituents?
ReplyDeleteThis outrageous abuse of the law by taxis creating an unlawful taxi rank on double yellow lines on Hans road has been continuous since mid January 7 days a week from lunchtime till after 9pm!! Do the council appreciate the quality of the area and importance of protecting it from inappropriate illegal behavior by selfish taxi drivers? They cause traffic congestion, noise, pollution and accidents.
ReplyDeleteMr Day and council leaders, your council paying residents demand immediate daily robust enforcement! You have a duty.
A confrontation lasted approximately 1 hour yesterday evening witnessed by several of the neighbors. The black car who regularly drives up Hans road was so fed up reversing on previous occasions that he refused to budge as he was 90% up the road. The cab stubbornly sat the whole duration refusing to overtake even when challenged by passers by, neighbors and the council refuse van! We agree with the driver on this occasion as he was in the right. He was overtaking the illegal rank of taxis and there was no way he could reverse.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of daily occurrences that I normally don’t bother to inform you of. However 1 hour of confrontation is proof of a drivers frustration and proof of the ignorant selfish rude obnoxious taxi drivers who would rather sit for 1 hour allowing his passengers to jump out and make no money!!! Unbelievable! the extent of the councils refusal to enforce this area of Hans road is proving out of control. Just having a warden moving the taxis on from time to time is what is needed.
Our Councillors attend the Opera in Holland Park while the Royal Borough burns.......
DeleteWhere is the enforcement? Residents of Hans Road have had this illegal taxi rank since January!
ReplyDeletePeople, you need to know the right people to speak to. The Council is not responsible. You need to go up to the car and tell the driver that they are breaking the law. If they don't turn the engine off, start calling the police. Give them the car registration number, description of the car and the driver right there in front of him/her. There is nothing to argue so just be cool about it like matter of fact. The police will take about 15 mins if they turn up.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you talking about? The Council are responsible and if you knew what you were talking about you would know the police would not waste time over this.
