They are to be replaced by a sort of shoo-in, Sarah Pascall, presumably not unrelated to the deeply unpopular Cllr Pascall and an Ann Cyron.
Cyron is a Trustee of the utterly hopeless Westway Trust and when she is not doing that promotes booze sales.
She is even a partner in a US based vodka brand!
The Dame wonders whether she will try to cuddle up to the Dame by sending over a case of firewater.
Still, Anne with all her expertise in flogging booze, will have some clever marketing ideas. Let's hope she doesn't try to shift 'product' into the Mayor's Parlour.....

Sarah Pascall, a big wig in the K&C Conservative Association, clearly had the inside track so anyone trying to push themselves were doubtless quickly disposed of.
The by-elections will be on May 5.
So we now have someone whose advertising skills are about promoting spirits.

The selection/election was a stitch up. Piggy decided who he wanted and forced Pascall and Cyron on Abingdon Ward. They will now sit alongside one of the laziest and useless Councillors ever(James Husband)

DeleteBorwick and Gardner. Two outstanding Councillors who have worked tirelessly for their residents over many years. Their phones were always on, at any time of day or night, their dealings were always polite and interested, and they made a huge difference to the lives of many struggling to resolve problems.

Dame, you need to do some digging about Sarah Pascall. Her husband Cllr Will Pascall is the underwhelming member of the Planning Committee and they rent out their house to pay school fees. The lady has been frothing around the Conservative Office for too long and residents need assurance that these "insiders" are up to the mark.
ReplyDeletePiggy is building a nest of obedient poodles. He stuck Palmer into Queensgate Ward and Faulks into Campden Ward. Two of the most unfortunate nominations and selections ever. Piggy even turned up to the Campden Ward selection and told Tories present how to vote. The result, Faulks, is a walking disaster. Norland Ward was thrilled to see the back of her.
Cllr Moylan has told friends that he is not in the least surprised by what is going on. "Feeble Leaders create feeble administrations" is the bon mot this month from he who never was.

DeleteHuge temperatures and pressures around the shortlisting of candidates which was "fixed" by Piggy. Local activist Lloyd North put his name forward but was barred from standing. As a result, dozens of Conservative Party Members have resigned from the Conservative Association in disgust.
ReplyDeleteNorth clearly has a local following in Abingdon Ward and his training and service as a trolly dolly equips him well for the daily grind of listening to residents and dealing with their problems. So this could be a big loss for Abingdon Ward - party members did not have the chance to choose.
Piggy needs to understand that democracy is a bottom up exercise - not a top down fix.

DeleteLloyd North is a sterling resident of Abingdon Ward who has spent many years as an active member of the Conservative Association, has put his name forward or stood for the Council during the last 10 years, has succeeded in his chosen profession, and demonstrated beyond doubt that he wants to serve the residents of the Royal Borough as a Ward Councillor.
DeleteThis is just the sort of person who should be joining the Tory back benches in Hornton Street. A thoroughly charming and caring person and a worthy successor to Cllr GArdner and Cllr Borwick.
Instead we have two airhead candidates (Cyron and the other one who is not even sure what her name is). Swelling the ranks of the ruling party with more Fieldings and Palmers and Campbells and Faulks.
God help Kensington and Chelsea.
Piggy is the champion of the "lowest common denominator". This helps his personal confidence.

DeleteOnce you stand as an independent your political party credentials are in shreds. He would not win in Abingdon but would lose all chance of ever being selected by the Tories again. Lloyd is a loyal Conservative member.
DeleteLike all of us, Lloyd North's private life is just that. Private. So long as he conducts himself with dignity and discretion and does not break the law then there is absolutely no reason to suggest nasty things.
DeleteJohn Whittingdale MP conducts his private life with his Miss Dominatrix squeeze with utter sensitivity and affection. And he is a Cabinet Minister.
So will all the Lloyd North critics just shut up and crawl back under their stones.
The one we need to shout at is Piggy for passing over a prospective candidate who may be the best Councillor that the Tories never had.
I have been taking soundings about the very strange shortlisting of Ann Cyron who wants to be important. A strange person with strange habits. And even stranger qualifications for a Ward Councillor.

Readers have asked us to point out that the Cllr Campbell referred to above is the airhead Cllr Elizabeth Campbell ("Holland PArk School cost nothing") and not the highly respected Cllr Barbara Campbell.
DeleteIt does not matter that these ladies will do nothing, after all, it is not as though a whole Council estate is being demolished in Abingdon Ward and all the residents being socially cleansed out of the borough. This is presumably good riddance to the poor of Abingdon.
ReplyDeleteWhen two Ward Councillors resign at the same time in a three Councillor line up, it is important to consider what the new "team" will look like and how they will support each other and develop together.
ReplyDeleteComments on this blog suggest that the selection may have been based on criteria that have little to do with creating the best resident team. Let us hope that this is not the case.
Young females from the liquor store, and also polluted by the Westway Trust, have no business trying to represent the gentle folk of Abingdon Ward. Boozed up Westway types know not the first thing about life, its problems, comfort and solutions. Piggy is playing a very silly game.

ReplyDeleteCllr Gardner was an excellent councillor, approachable and diligent. A great loss. Like other youngish tories recently, she's probably given up in despair.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand Bovill would be an excellent councillor. He's as sharp as a needle and stands no bullsh*t. It would be great fun for residents and who knows? He may even be able to break the rotten mould.
Bovill would be an excellent addition to the Tory stronghold of Abingdon Ward. Residents need Councillors of quality, not party fodder like Addenbrooke/Pascall and Cryon. Lets hope the people see sense. We have already been denied Lloyd North
