THE VILLAGE DOES NOT DICTATE TO THE ESTATE!

Cllr Squire

Which Conservative councillor, back in early July, at a very private meeting, made the following comment....

"THE VILLAGE DOES NOT DICTATE TO THE ESTATE"

As the Dame's source observed, "it's not even as if any of the councillors have any aristo connections-apart from Cllr F-M but to be fair to Rocky he wouldn't feel it cool to make such a comment.
The Dame was wrong...it was young Rocky!
Rock Fielding, who is a Tory councillor in Kensington and Chelsea, told them: “The estate will not be dictated to by the village.””

The irony is that this 'village' is stuffed with grand aristocratic families whilst the council is stuffed with the middle classes

Anyway, answers, please, to the Dame

This attitude is deeply ingrained in the Tory Group. When residents first started to protest about the injustice of the £100 million Holland Park School rebuild for the Saintly Hall (not one extra space was created) the rather grand Cllr Buffy Buckmaster uttered the immortal words: "The dogs are barking"

  2. The "village" in this case is surely the North Kensington residents. It matters little which of them said it, the idea that in the light of the Grenfell Fire anyone connected with RBKC voices such a view: is an unspeakable lapse.

This is a statement straight out of Lord Wellington's style of Toryism. This was regressive thinking in the 19th century. Yet it's how Hornton Street sees its lower income residents now.

  4. Cllr Campbell has been deaf to advice to abandon the Cabinet system of Government for Kensington and Chelsea. She has decided to continue the practice of personal patronage and will announce her new Cabinet in the next 24 hours. Some of the names will stun insiders familiar with the workings of Hornton Street.

This act of crass stupidity by Cllr "Holland Park School Cost nothing" Campbell will complete a hat trick of universal ridicule. In her first 24 hours after being elected she lost the confidence of the Grenfell Action Group. In her first week of Office she lost the confidence of the nation when she was forced to admit on the Today Programme that she had never been inside a Council house or any of the K&C Tower Blocks. In her first month she lost the confidence of her fellow Tories who now refer to her as "dizzy Lizzie"

    What a basket case

  5. This is like the enormous sink hole that appeared at Notting Hill Gate a couple of years ago. A huge, gaping, yawning hole, easily capable of swallowing a double decker bus; it paralysed half of Kensington for weeks. We now have a similar political situation. No idea how to respond to a deadly fire; nor to run a Town Hall. No shame. No formal apology. No decorum. No fresh thinking. No bringing together of the community. Not an idea in any of their heads beyond mouthing a time-worn insult against their so-called inferiors. RBKC's tory councillors have proved themselves inferior. They should resign en masse. Now.

    2. This is the demand of the Justice for Grenfell group and will be voiced Wednesday at 6 pm. The demand is that the Council must resign.
As for the sink hole, me thinks that there may be ample space in Horton Street to completely swallow the ghastly edifice.

  6. What qualifies Elizabeth Campbell to become leader of the council?

She lacks the basics of good public speaking, dithers with far too much hesitation and no fluency when she speaks, does not engage with constituents and shows fear. She even let slip the repeated apology over Grenfell is something she will say as often as she needs to - empty words indeed.

Why on earth does she want the job, it looks like it will destroy her in weeks, if not days. She looks like a rabbit in the headlights!

    1. She grabbed her venal chance for fame. As soon as piggy was toppled the two airheads emerged from under their stones. Cllr Faulks started her Leadership campaign by rushing onto the Radio 4 Today programme to tell the world that Kensington and Chelsea ran the best Council in the Country. A record for committing hari kari. Thank goodness she is now dust.

The more cunning vixen Campbell (dizzy lizzie to her colleagues) made a bold move to impress Hornton Street by flying back from Rhode Island America where she was "doing the Amercicas cup, darling" to whisper to her colleagues that she returned to "do her duty". Radio 4 was irresistible for her too until she had to admit that she had never visited a Council house and certainly not Grenfell Tower.

    2. Cllr Campbell does not have one ounce of political judgement. After she was monstered on Radio 4 the arrogant and disconnected Leader told the presenter that if residents wanted to vote with their feet they could do so in a few of months at the next local election and "kick the Tories out". Talk about digging holes.

How can a political Leader suggest to voters that they should be thinking of "kicking us out"? If the Hornton Street troughers have any concerns about self preservation they need to kick her out. Fast

    3. What qualified Campbell? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, dear Sir

  7. BUT that cannot be enough, there is serious work to be done and a lot of it. We cannot have more paper pushing and non action, RBKC is not a hedge fund.

  8. The sooner that residents vote out this trash the better. A group of self serving Councillors have hijacked Hornton Street and parade under the banner of "Conservatives". They are nothing of the sort. Disgraced ex Leader Cockell took systematic steps to run the Council "for me, not for them" and the practice continue. Time for a change. Time for the Conservative offer to be re introduced to Kensington. The Chelsea dinner party set is the last thing that any of us want.

Tory Councillors will regret the day that they did not take the opportunity to elect Cllr Moylan as their Leader. Those close to him report that his behaviour has mellowed. And high office (which he has always craved) can be a great moderator of unpleasant behaviour. There is no one else with his ability who is ready for office. Cllr Mackover does not have the experience yet and for the moment lacks the self confidence to go for it. What we have at the moment is not satisfactory and there is little or no chance of holding power in May next year.

    2. Cllr Moylan had better stay under his stone. For decades he's positively enjoyed bullying those he sees as his inferiors. He's incapable of changing the habits of a lifetime. His recent exercise in hypocrisy, when he publicly and tearfully begged NPB to resign, was misplaced. The Government had already demanded NPB's resignation. Moylan is quite literally the last person in London capable of healing K & Cs wounds. We need fresh blood. Councillors capable of acknowledging residents as equals, regardless of political view, social status and income.

  18. Lightfoot has escaped all examination. He's a greedy, wicked little toad who, in another lifetime, would have happily been the Court Torturer and enjoyed the job. Though it was RFM who sneered the phrase Lightfoot dreams of having the heritage to utter the same words, his keen attention to hierarchy not being far off sniffing peoples bottoms. His genuine hatred for the poor is perhaps greater than RFM and Paget-Brown's, becoming verbally incontinent when cllrs speak about food banks and other services that our most vulnerable people depend on.

Lightfoot isn't interested in the village. The village gets in the way of his Objectivism. He would like the villagers burned out of their cottages and whipped out of the bounds of the village. And his constituents keep voting him in. It reflects very badly on them.

a figure of £ 47 million is being kicked around, representing the amount 'developers' paid 'RBKC'. Apparently, the bottom is much, much larger, as millions have been paid to those who PUSHED THROUGH the amended Planning Applications, minus 'social housing'. architects for the Knightsbridge complex argued that the flats would be far too big for 'social housing' and the 'service charges' unaffordable. Surely, the question of flat sizes should be considered when the concept is put forward, not when the whole design is complete?

Experienced observers will have been 99% certain that the speech was written for her by the expensive PR crisis consultants hired by the Council .

The Tory Group must have come to the conclusion after the speeches by residents that there is not a chance in hell of the current Leadership and organisation finding a way to link up with residents and issues in North Kensington. In clear terms, virtual anarchy exists in the Royal Borough.

May you never lose absolutely everything and be left destitute. When things become very difficult in your life or the lives of people you love I hope you and they get all available help.

There are no 'agitators'. There are generations of people who have been treated with contempt to the extent of being killed. They are entitled to be enraged and their restraint should be humbly respected.
