They look as if they should be policing in some banana republic. Badly dressed and sloppy looking....most un-British!
They have no powers of arrest; no proper training and cost as much as a proper police constable.
The Dame shared her view with a proper local bobby. He rolled his eyes in agreement but diplomatically said nothing.
It looks as if some entrepreneurial type has persuaded the Council that a few of his Street Wardens would shut up residents complaining about a lack of police presence on our streets.
It won't work...
Poundland Police !
ReplyDeleteRichi's next big general election idea is harsher prison sentencing. While letting prisoners out due to overcrowding, and failing to fund the courts for 14 years.
DeleteHis team really do hate him.
Agree that the uniforms of the 'plastic police 'are scruffy & certainly do not give them authority . But most 'law and order' uniforms nowadays seem to be based on those of the Los Angeles police . Why do the english ALWAYS look to the US for inspiration about everything ? The French Flics and Italian Carabinieri have very smart and practical uniforms . But, more importantly , we also look to the US for health and educational policy as well. US education and health results stink for ordinary people . Lets look to the Scandinavians for inspiration on these vital areas of policy instead
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you say about how American structures of power and dominance have found their nasty way in to our very British way of life. It will never do.
DeleteUK Police Forces have turned in to a bunch of scruffs with their utility cotton trousers - although I must confess I saw a very nice clean cut boy with a very good bum, the other day, on duty in Knightsbridge.
As for American health care, it is a scandal that about 60% of Americans do not have access to comprehensive medical care and dentistry; yet the USA expends a small fortune on healthcare as a percentage of GDP. Economic inefficiency!
Your ignorance, prejudice and hatred toward America and everything pertaining to it is unpardonable as it is ridiculous. Think before you post.
DeleteI did think before I posted. I have a Degree in Health Economics and understand the situation very well. I studied with an American girl who came over here to study for a year. Her parents paid for her to stay on at the University of London because our education is better than it is in the US. I am not Anti American but I do not think everything is bigger and better in America.
