This is Sarah Buckingham.
At RBKC she looks after the conservation of our local heritage.
Currently she is a bit part-time as she's writing a doctoral paper on the conservation of Syria's heritage.
Maybe this so preoccupied her she failed to notice that the destruction of the Art Deco cinema in Kensington also meant the loss of unique examples of Art Deco workmanship and architecture for the nation.
Interestingly, Miss Buckingham is a Trustee of the London Historic Buildings Trust!
I live in a rather ordinary 1890's redbrick mansion block. A residents wanted to remove a piece of coving. Because the building is listed the full force of the H&C team was bought to bear. Endless team members poured over the piece of architrave before protecting it. Pity they did not employ the same zeal in protecting the Art Deco treasure house. I suppose it's a question of 'money talking' more Loudhaly
ReplyDeleteThe role of Daniel Moylan cannot be ignored. Terrapin clients are both Lodha and Ballymore......
ReplyDeleteAnd Delancey to boot! Moylan was f amous for introducing Rock FM through Bingle to Terrapin who made deals with Lendĺease and then proceed with the social cleansing of North Kensington. They were only stopped because of Greñfell.
ReplyDeleteThis beautiful cinema wasn't so fortunate. Cultural vandals the lot of them . Have a look at Boris Johnson's gifts and hospitality declarations made whn he was Mayor - apparently this vulgar and corrupt creature can be bribed to destroy London's historic buildings with a designer ashtray!!
