"Following the flooding event that impacted Kensington and Chelsea on 12 July 2021, the Council, in its role as the Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA), is undertaking a formal flood investigation under Section 19 of the Flood and Water Management Act (2010)."
We need to remember that the Council also needs to self-examine.
It has been lax in cleaning gullies which contributed to the floods. Similarly, it has allowed contractors to pour waste into main drains.

This work is being undertaken by consultants but as part of this, we are undertaking a household survey asking owners/tenants of properties that were affected by the flooding to complete a short questionnaire.
The information supplied will be passed on to the consultants and help the Council to understand how this flooding event has impacted the local community, and to consider potential options to manage the risk of similar flooding occurring in the future."

This is classic job creation by bureaucrats. Do a report!
DeleteExcellent idea if the report educates people and the Council acts on recommendations to stop it happening again. But not the negligent Officers and Councillors of RBKC.They conveniently forget their report commissioned 10 years ago after the last major flood caused by Thames Water.
What happened to that? It has been "filed".
Well the dumbos need to take it down from the shelf. And read it. For the first time. It was paid for by Council Tax. Taken from hard working and hard pressed residents.

DeleteSo RBK&C is going to arrange for its consultants to ask residents whose homes were ruined by the floods last year to complete a short survey questionnaire.
ReplyDeleteIf memory serves me well, the Council's housing management contractor, the TMO, asked Grenfell residents to complete a short survey and that questionnaire, and the way that responses were solicited, turned out to be very controversial as the horror of Grenfell unfolded.
Leadership and purpose is what is needed not surveys.
None of the politicians in Kensington and Chelsea regardless of political party membership have got what it takes. They are conceited and think differently.

DeleteI very much doubt if Dizzy Lizzie or any of her Tory chums know what Shane means when he refers to "Leadership and Purpose." Kensington Tories emulate Boris Johnson's idea of "Leadership" which is no 'Leadership."
How are they going to get a comprehensive response without mailing every household in the Borough?
