Francis O' Connor was a man who made a great impression on all who met him.
He had no fear and no compunction about taking on shady, seedy and greedy small-time politicians. He will be much missed.
THINK has written a glowing and GREAT TRIBUTE to Francis.
He died far too young.
RBKC needs more residents like Francis O'Conner. Blogs like THINK and the Hornet are powerful avenues for activists like Francis to help them articulate and communicate and speak truth to power.
ReplyDeleteRIP
Here here!
DeleteMy family always listen to people who call us out. Often they are right to do so.
ReplyDeleteSad to hear about the passing of people like this. The list of his communications on behalf of North Kensington residents is impressive
ReplyDeletegreat guy
ReplyDeleteWill be missed
ReplyDeleteI am pleased to see that Councillors Blakeman, Mason and Wade have praised this marvellous man. It would be nice if Councillor Dent could bring herself to acknowledge an outstanding community activist.
ReplyDeleteHymie, thanks for mentioning this.
DeleteAcknowledging Francis's achievements is no less than I would expect from Judith, Linda and Pat.
DeleteLabour Councillor,Judith Blakeman, has always appreciated those who make the effort for the community. I knew a Tory bloke who did marvellous work on the estate where he lived and Judith was always most appreciative and generous with her praise.
Judith sounds very nice!
DeleteCouncillor Dent, despite contact with Francis over the years and again recently over goings on at the Westway Trust and Westway 23, told Residents Research that she had covid and didn't know what she could contribute. Almost as though she didn't know him.
ReplyDeleteCouncillor Dent-Coad is a mean spirited, mean minded, woman. Francis O'Connor was an independent thinker and NOT a "Yes man." No good to Councillor Dent- Coad who requires people to do exactly what she says in the mistaken belief that she is cleverer and knows better than anyone else.
DeleteReply to Residents' Research,
DeleteEmma Dent Coad has made all sorts of "contributions" about things over the years. Her "contributions" were never up to much which is why she wasn voted out of parliament.
The world is much poorer without Francis.
DeleteWith all the local councillors we have, doing so much and achieving so little, Francis will be a hard act for any of them to follow.
DeleteFrancis gave his time to do good for no pecuniary rewards. Our Councillors get generous payments for doing a fraction of what Francis did. End Councillors' Allowances and let people who are dedicated to the community seek election to RBKC.
