SUTTON ESTATE SAVED....NO LOSERS ONLY WINNERS!

Cllr Ian Henderson writes...

"After 12 long years, the residents and surrounding community can sigh with relief knowing the legacy of William Sutton will be preserved with a continuation of social housing on the site for another 100 years.

This is not just a social housing victory but an environmental one too. We have shown that quality old buildings can be remodelled for the 21st Century whilst still serving the original purpose.

Working with the conscientious Mr Quinn and his new management team a historic decision was made to halt the proposed destruction of the estate and ensure its continuation as a vital and living community asset.

We have received messages from George and Ruth Landow, the Emeritus Professor from Brown University who wants to skip a couple of chemo sessions so they can come to the UK and celebrate when circumstances allow.

We have had many such wishes such was the support from everyone.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for making this happen."

    3. It comes as no surprise to me that Greg Hands MP has failed to congratulate Ian Henderson. Ian should get a knighthood for the work that he has done to save the Sutton Estate.

I went to see Greg Hands, when he was first elected as MP for the new constituency of Chelsea and Fulham. I presented him with a prima facie case of corruption at the Kensington and Chelsea TMO. I asked him to take the matter to the Minister for Housing and he refused point blank to do so. He wanted me to discuss the matter with Councillor Coleridge - oh please.

Greg Hands is on the wrong side. He not on the side of those who want, and expect, right to be done.

      Well done, Ian.

    6. Greg Hands MP would have broke a neck to grass up Labour run Hammersmith and Fulham Council if Shane had gone to him dishing the dirt on Labour. What a despicable man! Tribal party politics comes first. An MP failing to ensure that corruption is investigated is very worrying.

  5. Wonderful news. I am sure I lot of hard work and dedication went in to making this happen. Well done to all who were not prepared to accept what once looked like the inevitable.

  6. The local MP, Greg Hands, needs to acknowledge this victory and congratulate Cllr Henderson for his dogged campaign. We need more public service like this in the Royal Borough.

It would not go amiss if the Leader of the Council, Cllr Campbell, also said "well done".

  8. Ian Henderson has never sold any council or housing association tenant down the river. Emma Dent Coad and Maghread Condon Simmomds were not as principled as Ian.
