The Dame is an avid follower of council debates using her rather elderly Amstrad.
She looked carefully around the council chamber hoping to espy Cllr Palmer checking his share portfolio but saw no sign of him.
Wayward Palmer |
Tribal loyalty is a 'sine qua non' in the Tory Party and Cllr Palmer's excuses that he was fed up with Mrs. May will count for nothing.
If you are a member of the Conservative Party it's unwise to canvass for the opposition....and if you do expect to get canned.
Has Palmer been expelled and if so is going to resign and stand for the Brexit Party?
ReplyDeleteDear Dame, I was at the Council meeting but where was Matthew Palmer? No apology....
ReplyDeleteCllr Palmer is still listed on the Royal Borough website as a Conservative as of Thursday morning. Perhaps he is subject to an internal disciplinary procedure that will decide if he gets to stay in the Conservative Party? If he is (and if the procedure is fair) then he will lose. He campaigned for a party standing candidates against his own party. In any political party that normally means immediate expulsion. The evidence is clear and has been circulated on a blog that is widely read in the Royal Borough and beyond.
ReplyDeleteIf the Tories do keep Councillor Palmer then they look incredibly weak and hypocritical, and in future any member who campaigns for another party can point to him as a precedent to retain their party membership. He has to go.
This is too good to be true. Seems that the residents of K&C may finally be seeing the back of Palmer
ReplyDeleteMay he rot in hell
DeleteCould not happen to a nicer person
DeleteRot in hell is an unpleasant comment
ReplyDeleteQueens Gate Ward is solidly Remain so they must be puzzled that they are represented by a councillor so solidly Leave that he even campaigned AGAINST Conservative MEP Remain candidates using the Brexit Party as his vehicle. Remain residents now have the possibility of being represented in Parliament by a Brexit supporting MP. If the Ward association has any political sense it will dump Palmer as quickly and unceremoniously as possible. He is anti their interests as well as being a bloody fool
ReplyDeleteThe Conservative Association must be very nervous of their parliamentary candidate being tainted by all this.
Palmer should resign, cause a by election and stand as a Brexit Party candidate...go on, Palmer, I dare you!
Brexit Buchan is at the extreme end of Brexit. A real embarrassment and vote loser. Perhaps Palmer had some part in this. Palmer could be the first Brexit Party councillor in RBKC. He would like that.
ReplyDeleteIs he proposing a ' backstop ' in the Council chamber . Rumours abound he and the MP were having a cosy chat in the Ivy.
