IT'S A GIRL!

So, the new candidate for Kensington is a totally unknown banking lawyer. Step forward, Felicity Buchan!

Apart from being the Association treasurer, Flicka has done little in the past for local people-unlike Borwick who as councillor and MP loyally served the people of Kensington: this makes no sense at all.

A further point to reflect upon is this....
The selection committee grumbled that VB was a Brexiteer in a Remain constituency so why choose someone who actively campaigns for Brexit?

Darren Henry may not have lived in the constituency but did have the gravitas of a distinguished service career.

  1. Emma Dent Coad is talked of by southern borough Conservatives as someone who can be very helpful.
For example, she has been active on the Holiday Inn Forum and over the closure of the S.Ken post office.
Borwick, similarly, was always active in fighting for residents.
I have heard nothing of Miss Buchan.
On that count alone she seems an odd choice. It was poor judgement to pick this lady.

    1. We know that the Tories are in melt down. Labour too, but for different reasons.

What is the new political future?

  2. Overwhelmingly rejected by the majority of more sensible burghers of K&C, Brexit is the single most critical issue the country has faced since WWII. Borwick helped dump us in this dire mess. Now, with two power-hungry, self-serving PM wannabes each prepared to prorogue parliament ("taking back control of our democracy" apparently) in order to enforce a hard Brexit nobody voted for, any Tory candidate that rejects the leadership's kamikaze mission and has a handle on how this would eviscerate the economy and diminish our influence is a far more sensible choice.

    1. Half the Country voted for Brexit. Its hugely divisive. The idiot Cameron held a referendum - something that is crazy to do for a divided issue. Fool Cameron was playing Eton games, just like he did for Scottish Independence - he got away with that but the gambling wheel was not so helpful for Brexit.

Borwick took a high profile in Remain Kensington. Some would say that was bad judgement. But a Member of Parliament has a wider brief than a single issue. Association Members should have removed their heads from the sand.

The whole Cabinet in Honton Street voted Brexit as well. Should they be made to resign or get kicked out?

    3. Sir James Dyson, Lord Bamford, Sir Rocco Forte, Sir Jim Radcliffe, Crispin Odey et al are all 'burghers' of K&C and voted Leave. Does that mean they insensible?

  3. Flick has a challenge on her hands. A shires looking (and sounding) City Lawyer has to make her number in the Council Blocks of North Kensington. A silly choice by Association Members, given what was on offer. Darren Henry is a person of the 21sy Century, an accomplished public servant, cast iron Service credentials in the RAF. And Black. We know from Shaun Bailey that the Forces discipline and training is a key role model for young blacks in North Kensington who are going off the rails - and there are many of them.

How stupid can Kensington Tories get?

    1. The living dead could not possibly select a person as Prospective Parliamentary Candidate who does look and sound like a good Garden Party host. After all, this is No 1 Kensington priority.

Grenfell should have put paid to all of that but the living dead is hard to engage with. And public awareness is absolute zero.

  5. Just like Dizzy, Flick is ferociously ambitious. Anything for a photo opportunity alongside a Tory MP or Minister and an aching desire to be snapped beside the PM. Big personal expenditure on Tory fundraising events like the White Tie Ball and big punts on raffle tickets to "have dinner with Boris Johnson". No success so far.

  6. Just a suicidal choice. Poor candidate who has never done anything (except perform poorly in the NE) and never will. You can thank Brexit Party Palmer for pushing for her. Momentum is very grateful and the Tories will confine Kensington to Labour for another five years

  7. I don't see how the Tories will regain Kensington next time. Kensington is a very remain constituency and the Tories are now committed to Brexit. The Tory vote is likely to splinter--some will go to the Liberal-Democrats and some will go to the Brexit Party. Therefore I wouldn't expect the Tory vote to increase from its already low level in 2017. Kensington is far too "Remain" for the Brexit Party to actually win.

Thus I see Kensington next time as a fight between the Liberal-Democrats and Labour. Dent Coad can certainly count on a solid Labour vote in the north of the constituency, however she has alienated more than her share of constituents and her very left-wing politics seem a poor fit for much of the constituency. It's also clear that many "Remain" oriented voters "lent" their vote to Dent Coad in 2017 in order to remove a Brexit-supporting Tory MP. Given the ongoing uncertainty of Labour's position on Brexit, Dent Coad should not count on retaining those votes next time.

17.24 Dent Coad will tell disaffected Tory voters that she is of good upper class stock in the hope that they will vote for her.

  9. Emma is a marxist. The Tories should refer to her as "marxist," not labour, socialist or social democrat, during the election campaign. The "marxist label" will put people off voting for her. Mrs Thatcher in 1987 referred to Labour as marxist (which it wasn't back then) and she won the election.

The British people recoil in horror at the mere suggestion of marxism.
