RBKC AND THE RATBLATS....JOINED AT THE HIP?

FINE BRONZEWORK

If you want to make minor changes to your Edwardian Conservation Area flat expect to be pestered by a little group of busybodies from Hornton St, risibly described as the Conservation Dept.
FINE PLASTERWORK
CEILINGS
But demolish one of the last surviving Art Deco cinema's,replete with wondrous examples of Art Deco fittings and architectural features, and the Council will actually encourage you!

Thus, no surprise the greedy Ritblat duo behind this act of vandalism so loves our Council.
If you have the money everything and anything is possible in the Rotten Borough.
Since 1926 the vast Art Deco masterpiece has withstood wartime bombs and economic downturns.
This Monday, the Ritblats will send in the JCB's and a piece of Royal Borough history will become a pile of dust.
PEACH MARBLE STAIRWAY
The Ritblat family are determined to establish themselves as English gentry. Part of the ploy involves sponsoring the LAPDA antiques fair.
Incongruous, then, they would do so whilst simultaneously destroying a unique and much-loved piece of 1930's Art Deco history.

Can one ever imagine the French turning down the chance to recreate, within this fine building, a community asset of real value?
In K&C big money does not just talk.....it screams.
Cleverly, Ritblat Junior has boarded up the facade of the cinema but this is how it could be.
HIDDEN FACADE

The question has to be asked....why does Tim Coleridge adamantly refuse to order the building be made an asset of Community Value.
There is talk of an Independent Conservative group forming to challenge certain wards; it's driven by a council that hears but refuses to listen.
The Friends of the Odeon have an email list of twenty-eight thousand residents who oppose this demolition.
Could it be used to stimulate a real opposition?
We shall have to see......

  1. If the Coleridge / Ritblat gang haven't followed due process in considering the ACV option, can't the defenders of the Odeon get an injunction to stop the demolition from going ahead?

    1. Injunction is the right action for temporary measure.
Is there a solicitor who is helping the friends of the Odeon? Surely he or she can point out what hasn't been done and take action against them should they try to demolition the building?

  2. Very well said Grand Dame, destruction of this iconic building will be a DISGRACE.

STOP THIS DEMOLITION or repent at leisure for evermore.

    4. Anonymous 11.04 not only should you have gone to spec savers but one would imagine you have no taste and refinement in your bones, and would rather see glass and steel with lots of empty luxury flats inside which offer no benefit , or do you just have a financial self Interest.

    5. Anonymous 11.04 go to live in Dubai or Singapore, if you feel this building is building is so ghastly. We certainly don't need you here.

    6. I do live in Singapore. It opened my eyes to the absolutely appalling and uncomfortable buildings in London that parade as relics of past centuries. You should broaden your horizons and visit Singapore yourself. Educate yourself and expand your tiny mind.

    7. what a laugh 11.04 is. Why are so many Russians and Asians turning their noses up at cramped "Luxury" apartments and buying "cramped" Georgian, Edwardian and Victorian housing then?

      You numpty, use brain!

    8. I have no interest in buildings of Singapore. I think they are ghastly. Good job you live in Singapore 11:04. It's probably all that flouridated water you drink that did you in. They say it dumbs you down. I avoid it at all cost.

I remember well. Benny may have been the Village idiot but he was absolutely charming.

    2. It is common knowledge that Cllr Rutherford has been carrying a torch for "Tim" for many decades. And of course the cad plays up to this for all it is worth.

  6. Time for Independent candidates to let themselves be known.

Come together under the Residents Party, candidates who have the tax payers interests at heart and put a hole in this cartel ship S.S. Rotten Borough.

It gives us a year to prepare for 2018 local elections and crush the batsards. We have so much information on the councillors, not the nice kind, we could scupper more than half of the councillors.

This would be blue voters turning on their own, but they have asked for it.

When we look across this borough at the basements works, good buildings destroyed, council tennants at their wits end, rubbish and fly tipping rampant in our streets. Leaving elderley Ghurkas to be victims of foreign snarling developers. Councillors bending over backwards (and forwards) for the likes of football owners, Ratblats, Mike Ashleys and CapCo. North KEnsington residents left to fend for themselves.

The council's dodgy goings on exemplified by Marlborugh school, Earls Court, and now the Odeon; they are not for us so it is time to give these arrogant so and sos the heavo ho, plank and blindfold in 2018.

It is all hot air. Residents will never manage to get themselves organised into an Independent Group or Residents Party. It as been tried so many times and just fizzles out. I am afraid we are stuck withe the Tories for the next 50 yrs at least. We just have to rely on the Dame to get rid of the worst of them (Phelps, Cockell,et al) and keep snapping at the heels of Mellen, Campbell, Weale, Warwick et al

  7. Well said 15:11.

If you search for "Council corruption", RBKC comes up high up on the search result unlike any other. Time for blaming council/coucillors is over. We need to own up and blame ourselves for not acting on it. When you stop becoming a victim, things will start to move forward. We can do this if we have a year to work on. Let's cleanse the borough ourselves because they certainly won't. It's do or die.

  8. Cllr Coleridge is a disgrace and should be ashamed of himself. He has let too many opportunities to preserve our Borough pass him by and instead creeps up to property developers and does their bidding

  10. Can we please refrain from personal attacks on Cllr Coleridge; misguided he may be but he should not be butt of gratuitous insults.

  11. How does one get rid of councillors before their time? Providing that they are not paedophiles, declare their expenses and attend meetings, there is no way we can take them out? What kind of dirty deals do we need to unearth? Or is it a case of starting a petition... again....? lol

  12. It is high time the police or some official body are brought in to investigate RBKC, especially some planning officers and councillors , what has gone on the last few years is not a series of mistakes or errors of judgement or even any judgement come to that, it is painfully obvious there is corruption at many levels and RBKC council is actually no longer fit for purpose whilst being run by certain people and they know who they are .
