Others, sadly, are persons of poor reputation from Eastern Europe and other 'emerging nations.' They should never have been allowed to set foot our shores.
But whether you are a good guy..... like Mr Graham, the owner of the Old Court House, or a shady Russian oligarch, the rules of civil society should apply...no one should be allowed make like hell for their neighbours by building vast and unnecessary basement extensions.
The Dame understands that very shortly the Council will decide what to do about Mr Graham's basement. Just to remind you this is what it looks like......
The Dame has been asked by a number of councillors what they should do. Her advice is this.... under delegated powers turn it down. The expansion exceeds the volume test and thus requires Mr Graham to provide affordable housing. He also needs to provide a proper Road Management scheme: one that will not affect neighbours in the adjoining streets of Pont and Ovington.
My Goodness Dame...that is sheer brilliance!
ReplyDeleteI adore the pure perspicacity but, pray, what is "the volume test"? As the multiple building sites across our beleaguered borough attest, our dear RBKC planners are quick to approve any basement plan - mega or just major - without batting an eye, let alone seeking any provision of much-needed affordable housing. Is it perhaps a rule which has to be applied more vigorously in SW3 than in our other benighted postcodes?
