LEADERSHIP REQUIRES SACRIFICE

GIVE UP YOUR £70,000 A YEAR UNTIL CRISIS ENDS

The Dame had a call from the owner of a one-man band dental practice in South Kensington.
The dentist pays £83,000 a year in rent and £33,000 in business rates.
£116,000 a year before he pays himself or staff

He has seen his practice smashed to pieces yet being just outside the Business Rates Relief plan is forced to continue to pay rates.
In a few months, it will be the end of his practice.

There are hundreds of similar examples in this Borough.  A Business Rates Strike is what is required to save the local economy
The Leader needs to support those businesses.

Which brings the Dame to the Leader.....
Cllr Campbell is a lady with a rich husband.
Would she starve if she gave up her £70,000 a year allowance until this crisis is over?
Of course, not...she is already one of the highest-paid and least qualified of council leaders
Stopping her allowance would show sensitivity to the plight of the many businesses being squeezed to death.

If you have a faltering business that is being screwed by business rates then withhold them until the world returns to some semblance of normality.

  1. Incredibly that she has not volunteered this and that it takes the Dame to hold her well pedicured feet to the fire

£116k rent and rates for our dentist. And £550k rent and subsidy to Opera Holland Park every year.

What does this Council think that it is doing?

    1. How can the Leader of Kensington and Chelsea justify crippling rates and taxes on local business at the same time as splurging money on opera in the park for rich Holland Park residents?

      Something wrong here
