Hammersmith & Fulham is the sort of crooked Labour council that likes to find ways of robbing taxpayers
The sign gives the impression that parking is permitted between 2pm to 4.00pm on Saturdays trapping hundreds of motorists.
Even the CEO said the sign was confusing and would report it to his base(under pressure from the council he withdrew his statement!)
Unfortunately for the council it came up against someone who decided to take them on and appeal to the London Tribunals. The judge found in favour of the appellant!
Despite the judge commenting on the potential confusion created by the signage, the Council refuses to follow the judge's advice and continues to use the misleading signs as a cash machine.

"......it is always incumbent upon the road-user to carefully read all relevant signage, it is also incumbent
upon the EA to ensure that such signage is as "user-friendly" as it can be, in order to avoid any
ambiguity. On a multi-instructional sign such as this, it might have been helpful to have had a reiterated
instruction in relation to the two-hour hiatus on Saturdays (such as "Saturday, 2 - 4pm, permit
holders only) in order to avoid any potential confusion....."
They have been doing this for years! My husband and I got duped about 18 years ago. We contested it and the fine was dropped. Typical underhanded council tactics - any ideas how to put an end to it?
ReplyDeleteHammersmith and Fulham is very corrupt. The worse of the worst.
ReplyDeleteBy it's fat useless leader you shall know them
ReplyDeleteIf the Council thought they were in the right they had 28 days to appeal. The fact they have not shows they know they are 'on the take'....crooks
ReplyDeleteQuite a few Councils behave in this way in my experience. You can generally get the "unreasonable" charges dropped but it often takes weeks and weeks of telephone calls and emails. Most people just pay and avoid the hassle. We need the Dame and others like her to name and shame. And hope that the Councillors take note and instruct their Officers to behave in a more civilised and responsible way
ReplyDeleteSo i agree with everyone and i just received a ticket at 7:41 p.m. From my understanding it looks like i was ok party from 7:20 onwards but clearly i can’t understand the sign. Can anyone explain the OR . Thanks
ReplyDeleteI was also clobbered last week for the same infringement, due to poor English explaining the time periods, having carefully read and re-read the parking restriction notice. The very fact that all three adults in my car were confused should in itself be a good reason to re-write these notices. The councillor in charge of dealing with my appeal didn’t agree with my protest and reconfirmed the fine. I am furious and am appealing.
ReplyDeleteomg got one of these on Saturday was not best pleased I read the sign as 9-2pm pay and display and 4-6.30 pm pay and display. received a pcn at 6.47pm seriously confused. I have written appeal the pcn fraudsters
