A RED COUNCIL?

Dear Dame,

Our council's enthusiasm to show its new 'council of the people' face is interesting.
Commandeering empty property must remind the Dame of her childhood days in Czechoslovakia when her many family properties were taken over by the Commies.
Dame's Ancestral Home
Dame, we know that you are on intimate terms with Her Majesty.....
When you next meet can you ask how she feels about the empty wings of some her palatial homes being expropriated by 'Comrade' Taylor-Smith?
Of course, the Council knows that this wish will never be granted so it's a 'win-win'....makes them look good safe in the knowledge they will never need to worry about having to take over empty property.

Ever yours,

  1. Isn't this called 'virtue signalling'?
Why don't they knock down the Town Hall and relocate. A prime 7 acre plot there is worth at least a couple of billion and with that they could deal with the housing shortage, Are they really planning to move in Somalian refugees into some exclusive square. Dumb thinking and dumb idea

    1. And that comment is straight out of a trump playbook dimwit. English People , Londoners, ex servicemen, nurses registrars, posties, bus drivers. What ever gave you the idea that our council waiting list is full of somalians. Obviously a property developer in waiting. Is that really the best solution you can come up with - right wing reactionary comments and racist to boot.

    1. Not all quarters'no that's not true. I asked an engilsh family of 4 living in bed and breakfast what they thought and they love the idea. Why don't we ask the owners of the properties ifthey fancy a week in the b and b. I doubt this could be arranged as the owners only come out of woodwork when their asset is threatened. The polices of neo liberalism have failed. Cam and ozzy you have set the people against each other. The sensible thing to do is to leave council land for council housing be it social or affordable . Sadly the comments here are not the comments that best reflect all of our borough merely those self satisfied investors who want it all for themselves and stiff the vulnerable . What's the council motto we are always being reminded of ? Only suits when it favours one group. Who h has been the case for the past 20 years. Cockell, Myers, Paget Brown envelope, Paul Warwick ,Rocky Fielding Mellon, well done guys what a mess .

    3. Stop using this 'vulnerable' rubbish. The British 'vulnerable' have been f****d over by Labour politicians who opened the sluice gates allowing every global Tom, Dick and Harry...or should we say...every Ali, Samir and Hassan in.

  3. May be a good idea or not. But what should be done is to tackle the problem of EMPTY buildings, which have been unoccupied since built- for example the Knightsbridge Corner. This was place is a 'ghost town'. If you pass by in the evening, very few windows are lit. I understand that the occupancy % is very low. Obviously, the building was NEVER MEANT to be occupied. It was a really clever way of converting 'dirty roubles' into top class valuable property. Wonder and a classic example of 'money laundering', Mr Osborne should be proud to have put his name to.

  4. What about Kensington Odeon, Earls Court ,Sutton Estate and any other disastrous half baked plan that would enrich the borough.
? Business devastated in Earls Court. Odeon don't know what to say about that one and the crying shame of the half empty Sutton estate. It's not that people resent rich people and what they own, but we want somewhere to call home as well, where we can have a life and contribute positively to society instead of being treated as serfs. This is England ! When the call came in 13 and 39 we responded. We were promised a land for for heroes and their grandchildren. THIS and you attitude seem to forget that. For queen and Country yes but please let me have my little 'castle' so I can feel that the borough I live in , respects me and my family before some the Russian double or the yen. Cockell, Marshall et al should head off to Brazil or Argentina to join their buddies better still Beijing.

    1. All very well....but maybe the reason is that this little island has been flooded with too much immigration making it impossible to look after people whose home country it actually. Go to hospitals and schools and you can see that we are being burst at the seams.
