  1. Wouldn't trust Cowan, could have saved Earls Court Exhibition Centre from being demolished but he and his council had secret meeting and allowed CapCo to carry on.

Have also abandoned West Ken Gibbs Green residents to defend their homes from CapCo.

Just as dodgy as Hammersmith Tories!

    1. Whatever the current H&F Council may have wished to do at Earls court and West Ken/Gibbs green was hamstrung by the contracts entered into by the Tory administration just before the local elections in 2014.

H&F Tories, sensing the potential for a very real electoral defeat, signed away the family silver to CapCo as part of what can only be described as a parting "scorched earth policy", thus maintaining their "ongoing personal friendships" and ensuring the possibility of further mutual back rubbing in future (i.e. after the 2018 local elections).

Dame, this is a step far too far. This was clearly a private doc. You have no shame.

  4. I worked for K&C, and it had a policy of 'continuous improvement' 20 years ago. It is a mathematical impossibility, and so a nonsense. Any such curve will be asymptotic to an eventual limit - one may approach it quickly to begin with, but the speed of approach will drop off as one gets nearer (and never actually reach it). There is always a limit otherwise the goal is infinite improvement, which is clearly impossible.

To hear out goal was 'continuous improvement' only made me think the whole concept was ridiculous and despise the mathematically illiterate proponents of it.

    1. "Continuous improvement" was developed by Toyota as the means by which their production lines could be improved on an iterative basis to help reduce costs and time-to-build and increase quality. In that specific environment it works very well - the production line provides continuous feedback to management on what works and what doesn't and how things could be changed for the better and the management (being Japanese) act accordingly.

Then the Americans and Brits came along and decided that it could be applied more widely and in particular beyond the factory and production line and in "management".

To cut a long story short: it can't. And pretending it can has simply made the usual culprits, in the form of the big firm management consultants, a lot of money over the years selling what is little more than snake oil to gullible firms whilst doing very little to actually improve anything.

Whenever someone mentions "continuous improvement" they'd better be talking about manufacturing. If not best assume they're actually talking b*ll*cks.

    2. Exactly. What this email really proves is that H&F have definitely been got at by a team of rampaging management consultants. Management speak is everywhere, intelligent thought is nowhere.
