  1. The question has to be asked. Who Governs RBKC? Our elected representatives or spiv developers?

    1. This is a good question. The Council has consulted about basements for more than one year and after many reports and 1000 written responses has prepared proposals to limit the size of these huge holes under 200 year old buildings which are causing massive damage to neighbouring properties. Government statistics show that damage claims are rising at more than 70% per annum and last year totalled more than £5 million. The Government Inspector is on dangerous ground if he backs spiv developers against democratically elected representatives

    2. A typical basement excavation in K&C adds 2000 sq feet of space. The cost to do this is £2million. The increase in value of the property is £6 million. There are not many investments that produce a £4 million yield on a £2 million investment in 18 months.

  2. Our Cabinet Member for Planning, Cllr Coleridge, is under attack. He needs our support. The Dame is four square behind Tim on this one

    1. No hope Dame. The Planning system in K&C is in the pockets of the developers. If you want a case study of just how corrupted the system has become take a look at the proposals to redevelop Lancer Square which is now with the Planning Committee

  4. Basement Developers attack out Tim Coleridge
Central London is in the grip of a building frenzy by basement developers who are making huge profits by digging mega basements under two hundred year old houses in Kensington and Chelsea. This causes massive disruption to neighbours, the neighbourhood, and adjacent houses (some of which have fallen down). RBKC is attempting to limit the size of these developments and after a whole year of consultation, expert evidence and more than 1000 written responses, our Cabinet Member for Planning Cllr Tim Coleridge has submitted proposals to moderate the abuse. Developers are aggressively opposing Cllr Coleridge's proposals and have made a concerted approach to the Government Inspector to have them thrown out.

The question has to be asked. Who Governs the Borough? Our elected representatives or spiv developers?

  5. Stables doors.

A majority of RBKC councillors have never given a toss about residents' collapsing homes. Their concern now is that public anger is so widespread, it constitutes a risk to their incomes and status.

Let's just see how they deal with Lancer Square.

  6. To help Tim residents who have been adversely affected by these developments MUST submit the evidence so that he can argue the case with the Planning Inspectorate. But in the long term, our MPs must get primary legislation in place to block these outrages. Karen Buck is working on this - but where is the support from Greg Hands and Sir Malcolm Rifkind?

    2. The sooner K&C gets shot of the useless Rifkind the better. He has no interest in his residents and their problems. He just needs his MP status to help him get invitations to spout on Radio 4 and to keep his non Exec Directorships. He is the highest earning non Exec in Parliament. Obviously no time for Parliamentary duties

  7. Well said. But will his successor be any more interested? K & C is a retirement home for self obsessed former Tory ministers.

  8. His successor is going to be Boris, so the answer is 'no'. Just more self-promotion and directorships.
