However she is hearing some interesting news from 'people who matter'.
It appears young Barkhordar is impressing those whom the Dame holds in high regard.
They tell her this clever young man is getting married.....that is the good news and the Dame sends her felicitations....the bad news is that he won't be standing in Brompton Ward next year, due to boundary changes.
We can ill afford to lose young talent and the Dame insists efforts are made to find a ward for Barkhordar.
There is plenty of dead wood that can be cut down to make way for man with a good political future.
Stay the course, Cllr Barkhordar....your council needs you!
Could not agrre more, Dame. He is bright and works hard
ReplyDeleteIt is a pain to have to find and fight a new Ward if your seat vanishes with a boundary change. But you wanted to be a Councillor and presumably that has not changed. Colleagues speak highly of you and you have done all the boring "learning stuff". A waste for you and the residents if all that is thrown away. So think again, Cllr Barkhorder!
ReplyDeleteGoodness me. The Dame brigade must have sunstroke
ReplyDeleteTwat
DeleteBrompton is a tough Ward. Harrods and all the Arabs in their fast cars. Cllr Barhorder has had a baptism of fire. He should be offered a Ward where hard work, a brain, and good intentions can be put to good use
ReplyDeleteCllr Barhorder has taken time to spend with prospective Tory Councillors. To explain the ropes to them and to encourage them. This is a really good sign from a newcomer to public office
ReplyDeleteMarriage is a terrible distraction from life
ReplyDeleteWhat a pity Cllr Moylan doesn't get married then.....do us all a big favour
DeleteOf course this is now possible
DeleteEverything I read here suggests that Cllr Barkhorder has much to offer residents and has a rewarding future in front of him as a Councillor. He should reconsider his position and not squander all the hard work he has put in to achieve his current status.
ReplyDeleteCllr Moylan is so grumpy about the current Leadership of the Borough that maybe he will consider standing down in Queensgate Ward. This would create a place for Cllr Barkhorder
ReplyDeleteCllr Moylan will get over it...he needs a seat to generate external income
ReplyDeleteAbbas has bedded himself in and knows the ropes. And he is respected. It would be a shame if he just throws in the towel. Politics is full of setbacks. He just needs to take the loss of a seat in his stride. Even the dreadful Rifkind managed that.
ReplyDeleteDear Cllr Barkhorder. We are hooked on politics. It is a high calling. Give it up and you will miss it terribly. Within a few months you will be trying for a comeback. But it is difficult from the wilderness. So capitalise on the good start you have made and try to find another seat in K&C. You will get lots of help if you ask
ReplyDeleteMore heatstroke on the Dame's team
DeleteCllr Barkhordar is a thoughtful and hard-working councillor who engages with his residents. Sadly, like many young people entering into marriage and a possible family, he will have to leave the area. He will be a great loss to us Conservatives. Thankfully, people like Cllr Rutherford, described by the former leader as "just the kind of person we need" will be enabled to stay on. We hear that there has been a bit of a wobble in Norland Ward, but await details, maybe the loss of a Lady? We hear also that Cllr. Mosley is targeting the Pembridge seat held by Cllr. Campbell. If he succeeds, another hard-working councillor will lose out to the undeserving.
ReplyDeleteThis councillor game is not for young men who are set on courting and still finding out about life. It is mature people in their 50s and 60s with time and experience to give something back that makes the best councillor. The problem is getting them to stand down before they get to 90 years old. As for girls and babies, the less said the better....
DeleteI heard a rumour that 'certain people' were trying to get Moylan deselected, as he is bent (now, now, you know that is the correct expression) on causing mischief and discord around the new Leader.
ReplyDeleteBut of course he is a skilled operator, and will have it all sewn up in Queen's Gate, so fat chance of that.
Was it not this Councillor who felt that he could not support the objections to the Iranian building project in Queensgate because of his 'connections' with Iran ? Divided loyalties !
ReplyDeleteWe all have family problems
DeleteCllr Barkhordar has shown intelligence and empathy in his short tenure as a Cllr in the Brompton Road which is a lot more than can be said for his fellow Brompton Cllrs. He is sincere and hard working. His only agenda is making RBKC a better place to live and work. The other two Cllrs are worthless only making an appearance when they have something to gain politically or local bigwig landlords tell them to.
