We really were very good at it.
Council officers were people of talent and integrity....then something changed....
Local Government lost confidence in itself.
It decided functions it had previously administered so well needed to be handed over to greedy outsourcers.
Did it save us money? No
We have made him a near billionaire |
Did it make local government more efficient? No
Did it enrich Sir Ron Aldridge, the founder of Capita?
Most certainly.
In fact, Sir Ron, a one time a low grade council employee, has made so much money out of us poor, sodding taxpayers that he has been able to throw back a few million to build academies.
Ron is not alone.
There are other private sector leeches clinging to bloated and indolent local councils.
Now is the time to halt outsourcing.
Councils need to get back to what they were set up to do, and perfectly capable of doing,....running services themselves.
At the same time let's can the hopeless Tri Borough experiment: it's been a disaster.
The only beneficiaries have been Sir Pooter Cockell and Sir Delboy Myers who got themselves knighthoods.
K&C needs to do three things fast...
- scrap the Cabinet system and revert to the tried and tested Committee system
- Cease outsourcing
- Scrap whatever is left of the Tri Borough project
and bring back housing management!
ReplyDeletehardly.... as that would bring the 'responsibility' and 'liability' back to the Council. It is far cosier to blame the TMO...
DeleteThe TMO are to blame !!!!!
DeleteA monster that is out of control !!!
RBKC officers have despaired for years at the the lack of professionalism, integrity and professional qualifications of TMO employees. Councillors turning a blind eye.
DeleteTo hand over the management to the Council isn't the ultimate solution but it is 'better' than TMO. TMO hides behind the LTD company status whereas the Council is a public body. I hope everyone sue TMO, after all they will soon be cashing in £1bn insurance payout. I wonder what they are going to use that for?
DeleteDoes anyone know where bribing funds come from? What budget does it come under? Is it part of legal budget? I take it bribing the victims isn't illegal.
Stop outsourcing is a silly notion... It is unlikely to happen, as long as Councillors and others have a vested personal interest in the companies which provide 'outsourcing'... Do these people have to declare their commercial interests, as MPs must?
ReplyDeleteIt should be an interesting exercise to compare a certain activity: how much it would cost if done 'in house' and if 'outsourced'? Me thinks that the 'in house' option might be cheaper, considerably so... but then you have this tough nut to crack: responsibility and liability - both words are a toxic anathema to RBKC....happy days ahead...
RBKC officers are often instructed by TMO officers and directors not to address the concerns of TMO residents.
ReplyDeleteTheresa Brown, TMO director of housing is particularly fond of this practice. I have it on good authority that she stopped the wonderful work of a police officer who was helping residents improve their commuinities.
ReplyDeleteI heard that she enjoys sending intimidating letters to resisents she deems difficult.
ReplyDeleteIndeed this may be true. However, whether the letters are 'legally' sound is altogether another matter. I have read somewhere, that RBKC/TMO send out 'intimidating' legally faulty letters, hoping that the reader would be so scared that he would not dare to question the veracity of the letters. RBKC/TMO steadfastly rely on residents NOT to question the letters. They also somehow believe that the residents will be browbeaten into submission and swallowing the nonsense 'line, sinker and hook', because the letters are written on RBKC/TMO letterhead. Simply, they all reply on you NOT to question anything.....however absurd it may be.
DeleteThey not only do they send out intimidating letters but instruct officers not to talk to blacklisted residents or resident associations with genuine concerns trying to represent their communities. They arrange audits of these residents' homes. They are told to attend meetings with HR in order to "address" fabricated allegations against them. All funded by the public purse and condoned by cabinet members who turn a blind.
DeleteThis happened to the Grenfell Tower residents.
Deleteoutrageous !!!!
ReplyDeleteMany vulnerable residents don't have the means to seek legal advice. This should be investigated and those responsible prosecuted.
The TMO systematically disengages resident associations.
ReplyDeleteDelphi Technique
DeleteTop 10 Tactics Frequently Used:
1. Meetings are held but they make it almost impossible for people to attend or to be involved.
2. They will only allow the public limited time or limited questions and insist that questions be held until the end of their discussion.
3. They provide only enough resources to cover part of the problem or deliberately withhold important information.
4. They appoint many committees using the same key members.
5. They will pack a meeting to simulate public support for their position on an issue.
6. They will conduct private close-door sessions without informing citizens with opposing viewpoints of these meetings.
7. When dealing with politically heated issues they will use 'economic blackmail' as a scare tactic such as massive lay-offs, program cuts or safety violations.
8. They will give the appearance of action without doing anything or set artificial deadlines that are never met.
9. They will refuse to give out information or make it impossible to get it.
10. They will engage the public in detailed explanations or debates that are intended to sidetrack the issue or concern.
Yes, by blocking their emails when they complain, by telling outside agencies (RBKC officers, the police, etc) not to engage with them.
ReplyDeleteYes, ask The Grenfell Tower residents. They faught for years to be heard and now many of them have died through the criminal negligence of the TMO.
ReplyDeleteGET RID OF THE TMO !!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know where this document came from but interesting.

"elected member happy to engaged but when FOI documented fact is presented, you get a call from a lawyer!

It is shocking that an organisation that is so corrupt and works against the interests of the most vulnerable residents has been permitted to be funded by the British Taxpayer for so many years.
ReplyDeleteNow they have the blood of innocent people on their hands.
ReplyDeleteNow Rocky is on the run supposedly after threats. Or is he making a getaway?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4636506/Councillor-charge-Grenfell-Tower-refurb-FLEES-home.html
Excellent photos of Rocky leaving his £1.5 million home.

The whole cabinet should resign.
DeleteIts quite clear that there was no appetite for any kind of ' social housing ' in RBKC. Osborne and Cameron believed it would lead to more ' Labour ' Votershttp://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2016/02/26/george-osborne-didnt-want-to-build-houses-that-produce-labour-voters-claims-nick-clegg_n_9324920.html. Cynical . This has led to a running down of estates so they could be cleared out. This has to stop .This arrogant bunch of Councillors are a disgrace and not fit for office . If they had any morals they would crawl away under a stone .

DeleteIf anyone is interested in this phenomena across London city, people should search for term 'managed decline' and read around it. It is no mistake but deliberate attempt which creeps up on you. The order is in accordance with the Agenda 21 now 2030.
It is very apparent that this council believes in social cleansing. Sell off our homes to developers. Destroy mixed communities. George Orwell was not far off the mark.
DeleteA family with a disabled child was threatened by the TMO with being housebound for a week as the temporary accomodation they were due to move into was not ready and the lifts in their high rise block were going to be changed. Lorna Cunningham (TMO officer) refused to move the date of the lift removal forward and Social Services threatened to remove the child from the family home as she would be at risk should a fire occur. The pleas and despair of the family fell on the deaf ears of Robert Black CEO and Lorna Cunningham. Luckily a kind and sensible RBKC solicitor saw sense and made the TMO postpone the works for a week. These are the people paid for by the public purse to serve the interests of residents.
ReplyDeleteI am horrified !!
ReplyDeleteIf residents of Grenfell accept the £5,500 from the Government, they will have their benefit stopped . Nice caring touch there .
Delete'kind and sensible RBKC solicitor saw sense....' must be a very rare creature indeed. Perhaps a new employee...result of a recent recruitment drive.... RBKC legal bods do not stay long --- understandably so..... Good on ya Leverne Parker - you old survivor!
ReplyDeleteOne resident at Grenfell , who lived with his Auntie , was told the Council had no legal right to re home him. If he didn't accept an offer of a home in Preston , then he would be intentionally be making himself homeless. Haven't these people been through enough.
ReplyDeleteI suggest this person to go to North Kensington Law centre or CAB (Portobello).
DeleteWhen the Council built council houses and maintained them the system was better than it is now.
ReplyDeleteI had to watch as good people were ignored and bypassed by cllrs and directors in favour of private contractors and sub contractors quality was abandoned for cheap cost all premeditated by Cockell,Moylan,Paget-brown,The Trapination kid,Myers and the rest of the dodgy bunch.
