MOYLAN: A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER TO RBK&C

Now that Nick Paget-Brown has stepped down the prospect of Daniel Moylan leading RBK&C becomes the stuff of nightmares.
SCHOOLYARD BULLY
MOYLAN SUPPORTER: MAD CLLR PALMER

With no job in hand and none on the horizon, Moylan has plenty of time to employ his troublemaking skills.

There was a very good reason why Moylan failed so spectacularly in his last attempt to gain the support of colleagues. It was down to his reputation as a bully boy.

Do bullies make great leaders? Very rarely, and, at a time like this, a divisive character like Moylan would do even greater damage to the reputation of the council.

As far as colleagues and officers are concerned Moylan is a deeply unpleasant bully.

So who are his supporters in his bid for the £75,000 a year leadership role?

He has just three... his mad fellow councillor, Matthew Palmer; Cllr Julie Mills who managed to screw up the election campaign and Sam Mackover.

Conservative councillors....listen to the Dame.
If you back Daniel Moylan to replace Nick Paget-Brown you will not just be shooting yourselves in the foot: you will be shooting yourselves in the head.
You will bring the Council ever closer to being put into Special Measures.
If Moylan is income short tell him to get a job in the private sector....if he can!

  1. For once, I feel the need to moderate the Dame.

Cllr Moylan went public today and criticised his Tory Cabinet. An act of bravery. He was prepared to do what all the other Conservative Councillors are thinking but are too timid to say in public.

Thanks to the Dame and her Hornets, Moylan has been exposed for what he is. There are no surprises left. If he steps out of line the Dame and her Hornets will be down on him like a ton of bricks. Certainly, he will be watched like a hawk. And if he steps out of line, Tory Councillors have the power to get rid of him. But they will need to be prepared to act in future like they have never done before. They will need to be prepared to behave with honour, concern for residents and Officers - and not be the self seeking Turkeys that is the fashion of our current Council.

Tories also need to be wary of the threat to this Conservative Council. The Conservative MP (a great individual) has already been swept away by an angry and disaffected electorate. The Conservative Council could be next.

The Tories need a giant of a man or woman to stop the ship from sinking. Moylan could be that person. Conservative Councillors should take courage from the fact that they can be shot of him if he becomes unbearable.

Moylan has had some hard knocks in the last few years since he lost to Paget-Brown in a narrow race for the Leadrship. Let us hope he has learned some lessons and matured.

  2. You are naive to think that Moylan has the capability to lead people and once Moylan has entrenched himself he will listen to no one. Moylan is no giant: his political career at 60 has been one of failure. He will antagonise, divide and alienate. This is the moment for a strong conciliatory leader: one with dignity and presence. You are, Owl, a bloody fool if you think that Moylan's move was anything other than opportunistic. He also is desperate for an annual income: something he has been without for a few years now.
Do you really think a rabidly right wing Brexiter is the solution to the problems of an ever encroaching Labour tide? If you do you are engaging in faulty thinking.
Moylan will be an utter disaster.

  4. The worst thing about Danny is is proposed running mate. Cllr Ms Mills. She who demotivated most members of Conservative Association and effectively lost Kensington for the Conservatives. Moylan and Mills the Nighmare Team. The other person considering putting her hat in the ring is Cllr E Campbell. The lady who screwed up disabled children's transport. Labour would make mince meat of her too.

The whole Cabinet are dust. The next Leader will be elected at the next Council meeting and he or she will choose a new Cabinet.

The Tory Group now face a set of real decisions and a real selection of a new Leader. For the first time in living memory they need to wake up and choose wisely. The days of self interest and troughing have passed. Are they up to it?

At the same time, Labour and Lib Dems are no doubt looking at how a Council Election can be triggered.

Piggy's turkeys, and before them Cockle's poodles, had better wake up.

  6. Moylan is toxic. All he knows is to bully those he considers weak. We owe it to ourselves to take a long hard look at his performance on BBC TV News. An interview given while looking down like a penitent, with a sideways glance to check the effect he was having on his interviewer. The interviewer noticed his trembling. He claimed it was due to his shame over RBKC's situation. That voice, at once oily and affected, softened to distract attention from the blade he repeatedly stuck into NPB. Moylan wants the leadership so much, he can taste it. Beware Moylan. Anyone but Moylan.

  9. Anyone but Moylan please, he is a real snake and completely uninterested in residents. will never forgive him for what he said at the SGM council meeting and to the press about the Kensington Odeon becoming an asset if Community Value. Moylan is only interested in Moylan and developers not in what residents want. PB may be ineffectual but Moylan is dangerous. How can we make sure that he doesn't get his creepy hands onto the reins of leadership?

  11. It's time for the Government to immediately install Commissioners to run RBKC. It's clearly beyond running itself. No Leader or Deputy Leader and no Chief Executive. It's not a time for the usual RBKC round of musical chairs, where one peculiar specimen of manhood changes places with another. Horton Street's stench of rottenness has at last exploded into the street. Talking of rotten. OMG Moylan is now on Channel 4 doing his sanctimonious best to ensure takes over the Council. He should get an Oscar. Moylan as Leader of the Rotten Borough would be the worst possible result for both the survivors of Grenfell and for the rest of us. He's the ultimate self-serving creep. Anyone but Moylan.

    2. Well said, 19.19.

Why has the Secretary of State for Local Government and Communities failed to appoint a Commissioner to run the Council?

Alternatively, why has the Secretary of State failed to appoint a Commissioner to take over the Housing Service; both housing management and homeless persons.

Does any one know what Emma Dent Coad MP is doing to ensure that the Council and the housing service is run by a competent official?

    3. If it was a Labour run council you can safely assume that the government wouldn't have been so hesitant to intervene into the running of the council.

    1. That's right 19.43. Emma Dent Coad MP is not up to much that's why the Labour Councillors sacked her and replaced her with Atkinson as leader of the Labour Councillors.

    2. Emma Dent Coad's position as MP is untenable1 July 2017 at 01:36

Atkinson has been succcessful in bringing down Paget Brown, Feilding Mellen and Black.

Atkinson should be MP for Kensington. He would never have compromised his principles by playing the tenant management game that Cllr EDC MP played by going on the TMO Board for frigging years.

    3. Emma must go so that a by election can be called to get Atkinson in. The sooner she is gone the better. It was a grave error of judgement for her to have played the "tenant management game" for all those years on the TMO when she knew that it was a disgrace. She can't deny it was a disgrace when she was on the TMO because she told me it was.

She knows that Maddison and Jevans should be out of the TMO and she has not been demanding their or anyone else's sacking on the tele. Atkinson, a stroppy working class fella, has done good on the tele this week and he threw a really good strop for the cameras at the RBKC Cabinet Meeting. Atkinson will do the job alright. He won't be a nodding yes man biting his lip for Corbyn.

    4. Yes Atkinson is the man. Couldn't disturb his holiday to help Grenfell Tower victims. Very noble of him to turn up for the Queen apart from that hardly to be seen. Of course too busy playing politics actually to do any work. Cllr Blakeman not much better either. Vote LibDem.

    3. Careful there, please - nominating our dear Dame for the Leadership.. It MUST be a 'democratic' selection, rather than a whim. Taking into consideration her age and her routine sailing in the Med of the 'Hornet', hardly suitable for such a demanding job. I am sympathetic, but the Dame's place is HERE... so let's keep her here... end of conversation....

    1. Where done one start? For the historical background, one must go back to an exceptionally bright boy of humble origins. Oxford University and a golden future awaited. A exceptionally short career in the Foreign Office followed. A very dark cloud indeed arose in the heavens, the details of which cannot be discussed here. Years of comparative obscurity followed. Then for many years Moylan was deputy leader of RBKC and cabinet member for planning. In those days K & C was knee deep in brown envelopes, although no one has ever suggested he was aware of them. Moylan was the Leader, Merrick Cocklell's backbone. Tough as nails and a bully to everyone in sight. Cockell's star eventually faded as did Moylan's. He was sent to Boris to deal with and ended up designing the ill-starred airport in the Thames estuary. This was followed by a dream job: organising the legacy of the Olympic Park. However, it seems his work colleagues failed to appreciate his genius and he left after only 2 weeks. Now Moylan's moment has come at last. A few well timed television and radio interviews. Performances of jaw-dropping hypocracy, regretting the need for NPB to resign. Unfortunately, it seems the Government demanded NPB's resignation this morning. So Moylan's brilliant acting was rather wasted. Never mind. He's determined to get his hands on Horton Street, so he can resume that favourite pastime: bullying of colleagues, officers and residents etc.
