MOGG IN A MUDDLE

Just when we thought the Conservatives had found a saviour we find the saviour has feet of clay.

Jacob Rees-Mogg's firm invests in an Indonesian pharma company whose product is used to procure abortions.
He says it's ok because.....

1. It's not his job to determine on behalf of his investors what they should or should not invest in
2. He only profits indirectly
3. The company, Kalbe Farma adheres to Indonesian law

Indonesian law also allows 'claimed' adulterers to be publically thrashed!

Let the Dame give young Rees-Mogg some advice?
When you make a cock up don't try to dig your way out: instead, admit an error of judgment.
His attempts to rationalise the investment just make him seem silly and vacuous.

He should have told journalists he had no idea of the use of the product and that he was going to liquidate the investment....very simple.

  3. There are many converts such as Rees-Mogg who get terribly romantically entangled with Catholicism and don't question any teachings

  4. There is no way that Rees Mogg is a saviour of the Conservative Party. Anna Soubry or Amber Rudd are a far better prospect.

    1. I think you need a drink if you think Sozzlebury or Rudd are saviours of the party. Neither would Boris. David Davis is our best bet.

  5. JRM denies the rights of the (female) majority of the population to control their own bodies. As the father of six, he acknowledges that he's never changed a nappy. Simultaneously he accepts no responsibility for investments in medications used to induce abortions in one of the poorest and most overcrowded places in the world. Apart from that, he's a thoroughly nice chap, with exquisite manners.

    1. Oh grow up. All he said is what he believed that is unusual for a politican which is usually political suicide. You would have thought with his meticulous detail he would have known what the chemicals are used for.

  6. Only last week, in preparation for the Conservative Conference this week, Rees Mogg arranged a carefully orchestrated publicity stunt (that was VERY successful) informing all and sundry that his high Catholic principles forbade him to condone homosexuality and abortions. Even for the consequences of rape. "Life starts at the point of conception" the upright man trilled to journalists and television.

But making profits out of abortion pills is OK.......

What a two faced, untrustworthy politician this is. Glad the Dame found him out and alerted us. Voters need to be EXTRA CAREFUL of these Mogg, Rudd and Johnston types.

  7. JRM - Out of step, out of time and out of touch. A leader, no, just another old Etonian and we are beyond that now, so please lets not go back. The world has changed.

  8. What concerned me was the inept way he explained his position: truly embarrassing. No, Rees-Mogg is not the man. He can be a backroom thinker but no more than that.

  9. Busted flush. Shallow politician. Shallow person. Shallow ethics. Just another "entitlement" Eton boy.

  10. Very 18th century, JRM, .....

  11. have we not been here before? Had the news about his investments not broke, it wold have been 'business as usual' - profiting from human misery... Smacks of Grenfell. Another Tory event.

  12. JRM seeks to force his views on controversial topics on neither his constituents nor his firm's clients.

    1. So, it's ok to make money backing a company that does things your religion abhors?

  14. Rees Mogg MP is the toast of the Tory Conference. Three speaking engagements every day and many people turned away because of "full house".

He is the Court Jester. These people play an important role in the fabric of any Court. They are not worth a jot - but nevertheless help to keep the other jots going.

Visit any Italian village south of Naples and watch the village idiot wandering the streets. Harmless enough and part of the rich tapestry of life.
