Dear old Nick Paget-Brown is a jolly nice chap.
He is assiduous in being seen to earn his £55,000 a year as a councillor.
However, when officers force him to put his name to this sort of pretentious claptrap one has to wonder whether he is completely detached from reality.
This patronising 'talking down' to residents is precisely what infuriates them. It's clear Donna Pentelow, culture boss, is empire building and has dragooned Nick to aid her ambitions.
Residents of the Royal Borough are, in the majority, educated, cultivated and well travelled.
On their doorstep they have access to one of the most cultured cities in the world.
They do not need their hard earned taxes wasted on any little cultural frippery that attracts Donna's attention. It is time to pull in the horns and focus taxpayers' resources on things and people that matter....like the elderly, the ill and the disabled.
Wasting hundreds of thousands of pounds on stuff like the NOUR festival, Opera Holland Park et al demonstrates a total inability to prioritise.
Read this claptrap: it is truly silly and embarrassing.
