The Dame is a bit of a party animal....a few glasses of mediocre Chilean wine and some 'finger food' and she tends to get 'over the top' as her vile nephew Ludo describes it.
Last night she barged into the Mayor's Parlour to take part in the Mayoral Awards for outstanding residents.
Her plan was to personally congratulate Ian Henderson, the Inde candidate at the last election....and, more importantly, a driving force behind CATS and an award winner.
So wasn't it all peace and light?
ANGRY LITTLE ECONOMIST |
One funny little economist was far from being in a party mood.
The Dame was astonished to hear little Warwick Lightfoot deliver a most terrible bollocking to the amiable and somewhat puzzled Ian Henderson.
Now no one is accusing economist Warwick of being uneconomical with the heady Chilean wine but.....
He started off his rant by berating Henderson accusing him of 'not knowing the damage he had done in running in the election'.
The inference in all of what he had to say was that little 'locals' had no business opposing the sitting councillors and that they should 'know their place'.
Henderson sought out the Dame for some consolation. He told her it had never been his intention to go into politics, but had been driven to it to ensure Sutton Estate did not become a target of greedy property developers.
And, of course, being chairman of CATS that is his responsibility.
Ian attempted to explain to angry little Warwick that he had been exercising his democratic rights and explained he was being presented with a mayoral award for service to RBKC and the Sutton estate.
The still fuming Warwick scuttled off to the canape area for some comfort food....and a glass or two...
Fortunately, it seems that Mr Batten of UKIP has been getting up close and personal with Sutton residents, filling the vacuum left by the disinterested Cockell, Pascall and Warrick.
As a very close friend of the vertically challenged shrill-voiced Warwick Lightfoot, I must agree with him that this democracy nonsense is highly overrated. These elections only encourage upstarts like the Chelsea Independents to stand against their betters, and distract our Councillors from the important council business of looking after their friends.
ReplyDeleteWarwick is basically an unstable person and all around him understand that from time to time he will let go with irrational and emotional outbursts. But the outbursts and fits of temper pass. Part of our kitty cat lover never grew up. And now it is too late. Also, he is in position and as we know he can swing from the chandeliers and not s single person will notice. (Except, perhaps, the Dame).

ReplyDeleteComplacent Tories do not like it when anyone tries to rock the boat and threaten their life of troughing and puffing up. It is bad enough to see a resurgence of Labour, who now have 12 seats and need to up their game. But the prospect of plebs such as Henderson and his like seeking to steal votes is just too much of an upset for thesensitive soul, Cllr Warwick Lightfoot.
ReplyDeleteAre Cockell, Pascall and Warrick still around? They must move around at the dead of night. Just like moles do. Leaving their little mounds of mess.
ReplyDeleteWhy bother moving around? They've been re-elected. They can all just sit on their arse for another four years.
DeleteLightfoot should be trying to bring the Indies in, not antagonise them. Silly man. They may be angry but are genuine and quite traditional community supporters, natural Tory voters really. Why can't he see that? Far better inside the tent ...
ReplyDeleteIf you study Lightfoot's picture carefully you will see a spoilt little boy. A very spoilt little boy. And we all know how they behave.
DeleteCan confirm that Ukip are sounding out a couple of Chelsea residents for the forthcoming Genral election. They were very impressed the way certain individuals were able to take a number of Conservative votes. I believe the individuals concerned are quite charmed with the manner of the approach.
ReplyDeleteI overheard the Conversation as well. Henderson pointed out to 'lightweight'. that far from being ' trouble ' , the indes had sought to have an adult discussion, he pointed out that many on the Estate and surrounding area - would like to see a more traditional campaign, banners, protests outside councillors houses etc. By treating the indes like this, he will end up making the situation worse.
ReplyDeleteThe estimable Ian Henderson is not alone. At a meeting of 30 local residents, senior police, councillors and officers Lightfoot screamed at an habitually disobedient resident.
ReplyDeleteHe screamed at another repeat offender citizen, at a bus stop. He can dish it out, but can't take it. Shocked by a ripe anglo-saxon response, he claimed the resident had no right to speak to him like that! His council colleagues should find him a good therapist.
Both Lightfoot and Palmer behave like adolescents in need of therapy. Maybe councillor Moylan with his vast experience of helping young boys in southern Africa and Thailand could be of help to these poor men.
ReplyDeleteis it true that Littlefoot was seen at The recent Britains Got Talent - contest - he was turned away, after being informed that neither Ant or Decs' jobs were up for grabs
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking arrogance from Warwick with his "how dare anyone oppose my election to the Council" stance. Hitler berated those who opposed him when he was involved in democratic politics.
