Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Planning Consultations - The Billings and Brompton Conservation Area Appraisals
We have now published, in draft, The Billings and Brompton Conservation Area Appraisals (CAA). The documents outline the historic and architectural significance of the conservation area and describe their character and appearance.
The Council has a statutory duty to preserve or enhance the character and appearance of any designated conservation area. The appraisals, if adopted, will form part of the evidence base that planning officers will use when making decisions on proposed development within The Billings and Brompton Conservation Areas.
The Council invites comments on the draft documents. You can view the document and submit any comments at the following addresses:
The consultation period for these documents is for six weeks from 12 May to 23 June 2016. Your comments must be submitted to the Council by 11.59pm on 23 June 2016. We intend to analyse all the comments received, and to make any amendments to the CAAs, as soon as possible after the end of the consultation. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that any comments received after the 23 June will be taken into account.

When the hugely popular councillor Tim Coleridge was asked to include the Sutton Dwellings Chelsea in the conservation area he refused to consider it, even though the character of the area will be ruined when the owners destroy the estate.
ReplyDeleteWhy do these local councillors not deem the architecturally important homes of ordinary hard working people worthy of their protection?

ReplyDeleteI guess that this will give people to have their say. Rather skeptical whether any of it will be taken into consideration. It all appears to be already a sealed deal; these 'consultations' are made merely because they have to be, must be legally correct, you know...
ReplyDeleteThese documents are so long and worthy ( or should I say wordy?) that not many of us will have the time or inclination to study them, as Sad Badger has implied. Dear Dame, could you persuade one of your minions to do a critique and provide an executive summary of the major points or those likely to be of interest or concern to your devoted followers so that we can focus and perhaps comment on just those issues?
