KNIGHTSBRIDGE AND THE ARABIAN NIGHTMARES

At last....the worms are turning. Or, at least that was the feeling the old Dame got when she popped along to tonight's meeting at the Little Hall at the Oratory.
FALL
It was a full house. The organiser, William Fall of Alexander Square asked-for some very odd reason- that any journalists present, leave.

Anyway, the Dame has never considered herself part of that 'rough trade' and decided to 'hang on in'.
The Dame spied the elegant Max Mosley and the thoroughly useless Cllr Weale.
Ironically, one of the main points on the agenda was the hell created by the Arab owned super car drivers.

Knightsbridge residents have finally woken to the fact their neighbourhood, once noted for understated elegance, feels like the rougher part of Edgware Road.
Arab visitors show no respect for our customs. At all times of day and night they roar around our streets in £300,000 Lamborghini's with indecipherable Gulf number plates.
Beauchamp Place and Brompton Road have become infested by kebab shops, perfumed with the stench of shisha pipes.
Begging Eastern European beggars complete the Hogarthian picture of decay.
Will anything change as a result of such meetings?
Very doubtful.
To organise a meeting like and then bar the press sounds quaint, old fashioned.... and a total waste of time.

  1. As ever, problems in the planning department are at the heart of this situation. By endlessly kowtowing to the demands of the super-rich, RBKC has turned the once gracious streets of Knightsbridge into a racetrack. It's only a matter of time before someone is killed. The miscreants will then claim diplomatic immunity.

We live in a rotten borough and it's time to do something about it. There's an election next week. Residents should seriously consider voting their protests.

  2. What was the meeting about and who were the organisers? And who is Mr Fall?

This is a very sloppy report from the Dame

    1. How dare you!!! Yes, the old Dame had a couple of 'sharpeners' before attending but her recollection was that William Fell of the Alexander Square RA organised the meeting and its purpose clear enough: to discuss the degradation of Knightsbridge.
If yiu are interested in knowing more of Mr Fell with a view to offering him a non exec directorship he is ex head of RBS Global Banking which is why he can afford a splendid house in Alexander Square

  3. Mr Fall of Alexander Square? Who he?

Sounds like a waste of time. The Council only debates with "institutions" (Resident Associations etc). And of course it listens to no one. The presence of Cllr Weale speaks volumes - "we agreed to listen but not to hear"

  4. Maybe Fall asked all journo's to leave in case they asked him about his little problem with RBS?

  5. Watch this space! The depth and breadth of feeling on this subject demonstrated by the massive turnout says something. With over 8 residents associations teamed up on this, don't underestimate what is being done here. Positive support rather than negativity would be helpful...

  6. Not to let the Hornet's Nest know of the meeting shows how totally out of touch RA's are. I live in Brompton Square and always read the Hornet's Nest so was stunned that I knew nothing of the meeting. Commonsense should have dictated that the meeting was posted on the Hornet....

  7. Interesting... I would suggest that someone should inform the Kensington branch of 38 degrees org, who can organise some kind of an action....

    1. 38 Degrees are, whatever they might wish to claim when it suits them, a left wing pressure group who no more care about the posh parts of K&C than they do about the birth of the Royal baby.

    2. I hardly think that the sophisticated residents of Knightsbridge have much interest in the birth of the Royal baby....

  8. There is one already, but it seems to address the issues of north Kensington. It's time to have a Brompton or Knightsbridge branch.

  9. We must all put our faith in the dynamic UKIP candidate for Kensington. And by the way, can anyone tell me how come he owns three houses that face the Mansion Tax yet lives in social rented sheltered accommodation?
