A PICTURE OF CHELSEA ELEGANCE |
In the Dail Mail we READ of the destruction of this fine and elegant house in Burnsall Street. What astonishes residents is how the Planning Dept nitpicks over trivial stuff, yet allows a thing of beauty to be torn down without a murmur...small wonder there is a feeling 'money shouts' in the Borough....or the planners are devoid of taste.

A PIG OF A HOUSE |
The 'thing of beauty' has been replaced by this vile pig of a house lacking charm, character or congruity with the surrounding houses.
As one resident said, "It looks like a downmarket mortuary"
Mr Bore needs to answer two questions:
1. Why was permission given to demolish this propery, loved by neighbours- and anyone with a modicum of taste
2. Why was permission given for a monstrosity which insults Burnsall St.
As for the useless Chelsea Society....not even a murmur of dissent
How did this happen? Answers please planning committee
ReplyDeletePlanning has a lot to answer in rbkc . Its not getting throw the net they is no net . Any thing goes. A lot of councillors need to go.
ReplyDeleteStanley Ward, nuff said.
ReplyDeleteHopefully Schumi or Barshall will become Sheriff [Councillor] and clean up Dodge City [Stanley Ward]
Modern architecture is not inherently 'bad.' The technical explanation here may be that despite having a certain charm, the traditional building was not old, nor in or immediately adjacent to a conservation area. If this is not the case, it's evidence of 'business as usual' at the Rotten Borough's Planning Department.
ReplyDeleteHowever, we've seen the awesome vulgarity of the owners' previous apartment. So it's unsurprising that the exterior of the replacement house looks like a university chemistry lab. This, in a city where the poorest are charged £14 a week for a 'spare' bedroom housing a dialysis machine.
Why is Bore hanging around? His replacement has been announced (Mr Stallwood) who also works in the Planning Department. Keeping him in the shadow of Bore completely destroys his authority and his chance to stamp a new direction on the department.
ReplyDeleteIt will make little difference when Mr Bore leaves. Mr Stallwood is a long term colleague of Mr Bore's. So it's likely to be more of the same.
ReplyDeleteThis is very depressing news. Cllr Paget-Brown took ages to appoint a replacement and he is fully aware of the unhappiness of residents about the way that planning has been conducted. It is hard to believe that he recruited a clone of Bore.
DeleteStallwood is no clone, otherwise Dent Code and Thompson would not have supported his appointment.
DeleteI had a lengthy conversation with Mr Stallwood about a year ago to discuss resident concerns about planning in the Royal Borough. He was obviously guarded and cautious in what he said but I formed the impression that he is fully aware of resident concerns and will not ignore them.
DeleteDead man's shoes is exactly that. Dead man's shoes. Why is the Council continuing to provide a desk and telephone for Mr Bore in Hornton Street?
ReplyDeleteWe should be told.
He's waiting for his £250k handout.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in the balance of hypocrisy that Planning allows this but has just told the lady with the fetching red stripes to repaint over her circus tent.
