SCRUTINY COMMITTEE HAS CHANCE TO RIGHT A WRONG TONIGHT

Tonight the Scrutiny Committee meets to review and scrutinise the council's muddled decision to award the Isaac Newton centre to a educational group owned and run by a couple of property developers, John and Jamie Ritblat.
JAMIE RITBLAT

The Dame went to the RBKC website and found this....

"What is scrutiny?
Scrutiny is a Councillor-led statutory function within the Council. It is responsible for holding decision-makers to account on behalf of borough residents and helping to develop policies and initiatives that make the borough a better place to live and work."
The Notting Hill Prep Parents Action Group have put out this statement ahead of tonight's meeting.
The Dame was particularly drawn to the bit highlighted in red.... shades of Sloane Sq when locals threatened to fight their own corner with their own candidates....and this May, when a trio of independents plan to contest Stanley ward.

"Notting Hill Prep parents will continue to attempt to overturn the decision to award the Isaac Newton Centre to a competing school.
We believe the decision was made as a consequence of a deeply flawed bidding process and contrary to the legal obligations for a local authority.
We welcome the opportunity to challenge the decision through local democracy and hope these processes ensure that the current decision is overturned.
However we will consider all other options to achieve our aims including
all legal and political avenues as the local elections approach in May."

  1. Yet another group looking to stand as Independents, as their objections are constantly falling on deaf ears. No matter how hard people attempt to put a constructive case for doing the right thing, they are swatted away like flies. Why do they make it so difficult for Concerned citizens to object. People are sick and tired of this constant battering of our Borough from Developers who merely see the local as an inconvenience - good luck in the elections. And why are the Councillors not standing up for us

    1. Labour are too busy colluding with the Ruling Party and planning their trips to Holland Park Opera to bother standing up for residents.
Hornton St is just a cosy little club for our Labour and Conservative Councillors where resident's views and true democracy count for nothing.

  3. Ritblat's mantra is 'buy, monetise, sell' and they will do this throughout the borough if this continues.

  4. It is rumoured that Alpha Plus have also bought the Lighthouse, which is supposed to be a home for the voluntary sector. This sounds like another disaster for the local community. Nick PB has certainly inherited a poisoned chalice. He has had Rock FM forced upon him - and the sooner he loses him as Deputy Leader the better. Perhaps after the May elections the majority of the returning Tory councillors will be more to Nick's political leaning.

  5. Pictures tell a thousand words. Jamie looks like the tortured son of John. Just like the Hon Rocco is the tortured son of Charlie (or "Sir" Charles as he preferred to be known)

    1. Without Denis behind him, this poor Italian immigrant did not have the know how to get some elocution lessons which would have been a boon to him in later life. Poor complexed Rocco had to make his way alongside a thoroughly "working class" dad. The boy was, is, and will continue to be, a source of quiet amusement and disdain
