POOTER'S BEST FRIEND BLATHERS

Pooter's new best friend, the boss of Peterborough City Council, Don Mario Cereste, had a hilarious local radio interview.
He was very keen on the cultural exchange aspect of the relationship, but was at a loss when the interviewer asked what 'culture' Peterborough would export to the Rotten Borough. Click here Pooter's Friend to read what the Don had to say....so embarrassing!

  1. The Leader of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea should not be consorting with the likes of this. Hammersmith is bad enough. But Peterborough? I ask you!

Just look at the man. Even Portobello market traders would draw the line

  2. "Cultural Exchange". What claptrap. Too many councillors in K&C, too much money to spend and not enough to do.

£170 million of council tax in reserves and shortly to be boosted by £100 million from the sale of the Holland Park School playground. The profligates will go wild - watch out for the next Exhibition Road. £270 million now available for splurging

  4. It is doubtful that many of the Dame's readers have met Cllr Cereste. However, it's possible that he or his parents were born abroad. This is not a character flaw.

Regardless of the wider political issues, disparaging comments about Portobello market traders are inappropriate. Many street traders are of foreign origin. Street trading is a traditional activity open to immigrants. It's a hard life, often engaged in by those wishing to secure a better life for their children. One might have expected such ambition to be applauded in K & C.

    2. Remember the GLA councillor that Pooter took to a $400 dinner at Keanes in New York, and charged up to council tax?

    3. Do you mean the convicted ex GLA councillor?

    4. Keanes is a top peoples restaurant in New York and Pooter is a VIP. Where do you expect the Prime Minister to entertain his guests? Kentucky Fried??

My best mates are street traders. Potobello traders, where I live. They are also very skilled at spotting the "bad uns". Where does nationality figure here?

  7. As Cllr Cereste points out, Peterborough is almost bankrupt. It therefore makes sense for him to scrutinise the balances of other Tory Councils and then go for the one with the biggest pot which fortuitously also wants to rid itself of poor people. This is bilge about upwardly mobile thrusting young people. They are not the people who will wish to move to Peterborugh and anyway, they aren't on the housing list. The housing list is now only for vulnerable people.

  8. Perhaps the issue is that virtually no one - young and thrusting or otherwise - will wish to leave the centre of one of the world's greatest cities, for a near bankrupt Midlands town with its own problems. Rather than seeking ways to house poor people in London, the Council intends to dump low income people as far away as possible. After all, non doms need 500sq metre lateral apartments to ensure their comfort.

    1. Exactly - people are in K&C because they want to be in K&C. There are even some poor and hopeless who have figured out that they want to be here and not in Peterborough. Its called "the market"
