A FLUMMOXED DAME

The Dame gives advice to the reader

Dearest Dame,

My darling son tells me that he would leave if he had to fight for this "cesspit of a country". (his awful words)
He goes on about it being a dreadful woke nightmare of a country and he has no intention of risking life or limb for it.
Like you, I am a great patriot and nothing seems to convince him that it is worth fighting for.
I am desolate and devastated....

What to do?

One of your most loyal readers

Mrs P*****r-T*****l

  1. If there was conscription the population emigration would be dramatic.

  4. I would never allow my 16 year old to fight for this wreck of a country. No way. Luckily he has dual nationality

    1. I am a dual national. Unfortunately, dual nationality does not usually allow you to evade a military service obligation. For example, the Irish state will not protect you if you are evading military service in the UK. The same rule applies in most western countries.

  5. Most of the comment here are from old fashioned English types who don't want to accept this country is now a fully integrated multicultural country and I will be proud for my son to fight. We don't want your types here

  6. The UK is far from perfect; but it will heal, as it has many times before.
It's unfortunate for us all that due to Labour's adoption of a deeply divisive, unelectable Leader; the Conservatives won the last general election. Perhaps sanity will eventually prevail; so the UK will reconnect with the world's largest tariff free trade area - planted all of 23 miles from Dover!
Since then, the Conservatives have been responsible for an endless series of self-inflicted wounds. Time for Starmer and some hope of sanity and change.

  7. Nothing Labour can do. The institutions are all left wing and obsessed with crazy ideas. The Civil Service do what they want and the voice of the people is ignored. If we had stayed in the EU we would have a vast and constant stream of unwanted refugees from dangerous places just wanting housing and benefits. It Reform UK for me to destroy the Tories and make it tough for Labour. Islamists seem to do what they like. My poor benighted country bought low by Labour & Conservative over the years

    1. Dear 19.11, Labour have been out of power for FOURTEEN years. How can they be in any way responsible for the omnishambles that is currently overwhelming us

    2. I suspect(as you doubtless know!) that our friend @ 19.11 is suggesting that this decline started decades ago under Labour administrations and continued(apart from Thatcher) under Conservative administrations.
