  1. One day someone inside RBKC Property will spill the beans ( come on Laura Johnson...)
Lobbyists like Bingle have targeted the smaller London Councils, spending years wineing and dining unloved Councillors, Officers, Planners even Council Leaders... Lobbyist & developer, then present huge schemes, they then renege on the social and affordable requirements, at the last minute, etc...
Low and behold.... many of the exact same Cllr, Officers, even Council leaders end up working for the developer such as Lendlease or the lobbyist such Four Communications... Another Lobbyist to entertain Cllr Rock F-M and his zany ideas to wipe North Kensington of the map, 'the north is the new south', is Localis...

Localis is a weird lobby- again seeking, between the softly worded lines, to end civic housing or accountable planning.

Locals 'the housing disrupter' policy lobby Chair is none other than?... Sir Merrick Cockell....

All the snouts well and truly in the RBKC trough.

  2. Kensington and Chelsea have the highest land values in the UK and profits from development are humongous. And of course these profits are often created by the signature of the Planning Committee and Officers who can turn worthless land into development land. For example, the worthless Holland Park School Playground was rezoned by Officers and Planning Councillors and suddenly became worth £100 million to the developers who bought it for buy to leave. All it took was a signature.

In these circumstances trash like Bingle will be in overdrive and working the patch with the likes of Fielding-Mellen and Moylan. And from whatever quarter, the brown envelopes are stuffed.

  3. On the subject of Terrapin. There's also the Centre For London, industry paid for policy lobbyists, that often pairs at conferencces Cllr RFM with Harringey Leader (Labour). Cllr Clare Kober. Kober just hived off £2billion housing stock to Lendlease, a Terrapin client.

Interesting to note: 2016 September 22
Cllr Kober (Seven Sisters Ward) — with Peter Bingle
    Clarke's Restaurant, 124 Kensington Church Street, London, W8 4BH

Was anyone else, anyone RBKC related, at this Kensington dinner?

Further a field: Derek Myers, who until 2013 jointly ran Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith and Fulham councils, is now a director of the London Communications Agency, a lobbying agency with property developers on its client list. And further on again Merrick Cockell, the leader of Kensington and Chelsea until 2013, also now chairs the lobbying firm Cratus Communications, which also specialises in property lobbying.

Back to Terrapin. One Cllr Adam Jogee was a researcher for Terrapin comms, he is now Majority Chief Whip at Haringey...

One of the owners of Terrapin, Peter Bingle has tweeted a little about the probity of such an arrangement. In 2014 he is reported to have said:

June 2014 - Should an agency take on property and planning work in a borough when it employs a consultant who is a councillor in the area? A dilemma?

June 2014 - Who checks the activities of councillors who advise property clients on planning? Is this a scandal about to break? Perhaps it is ...

June 2014 - What is the PRCA view of existing councillors working for public affairs agencies involved in property and planning? Are there guidelines?

June 2014 - How does an agency manage a councillor who is involved in planning in a borough being part of a team that advises clients in that borough?

Please make your own judgements, all the above is in the public domain...

  5. This may be the most significant story the Dame has yet brought to light. She has discovered the nature of the pile of sh*t that is RBKC. We have all long known of its existence, but It took the fallout from the Grenfell fire to set the scene. This provides a first glimpse of the stark reality. There will be more. Far more.

The Met police is investigating an extraordinary hundreds of firms and tens of millions of documents in relation to the fire. Here are connections between all the major players in recent years. Councillors, lobbyists, developers, brown envelopes, RBKC property and planning departments all come together at Grenfell.

It's said the cladding was installed to make Grenfell more visually acceptable to new residents of the local Westfield and BBC flats. From municipal corruption to social cleansing, to corporate manslaughter. This is deep, dark stuff.

    1. I hope Mr Bingle of Terrapin will be investigated and put in jail too. He is just the sort, like Rocky, who had it so good but nothing lasts forever. Their time has come.

  7. WE ARE ALL THE VICTIMS OF THESE PEOPLE - BLATANT SMASH AND GRAB

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lobbying

Lobbying, persuasion, or interest representation is the act of attempting to influence the actions, policies, or decisions of officials in their daily life, most often legislators or members of regulatory agencies. Lobbying is done by many types of people, associations and organized groups, including individuals in the private sector, corporations, fellow legislators or government officials, or advocacy groups (interest groups). Lobbyists may be among a legislator's constituencies, meaning a voter or bloc of voters within their electoral district, or not; they may engage in lobbying as a business, or not. Professional lobbyists are people whose business is trying to influence legislation, regulation, or other government decisions, actions, or policies on behalf of a group or individual who hires them. Individuals and nonprofit organizations can also lobby as an act of volunteering or as a small part of their normal job (for instance, a CEO meeting with a representative about a project important to their company, or an activist meeting with their legislator in an unpaid capacity). Governments often define and regulate organized group lobbying that has become influential.

The ethics and morality of lobbying are dual-edged. Lobbying is often spoken of with contempt, when the implication is that people with inordinate socioeconomic power are corrupting the law (twisting it away from fairness) in order to serve their own interests. When people who have a duty to act on behalf of others, such as elected officials with a duty to serve their constituents' interests or more broadly the public good, can benefit by shaping the law to serve the interests of some private parties, a conflict of interest exists. Many critiques of lobbying point to the potential for conflicts of interest to lead to agent misdirection or the intentional failure of an agent with a duty to serve an employer, client, or constituent to perform those duties. The failure of government officials to serve the public interest as a consequence of lobbying by special interests who provide benefits to the official is an example of agent misdirection.

    1. With all the private property money sloshing about - its seems that certain Councillors in London are too tempted forgetting why they were elected in the first place .

  14. Terrapin - Bingle has developed a very successful business model, which continues to serve him very well. Similar to doing a quarterly fund raise.
