We lose Major Jim Vickers, and then, that brilliant banker and polymath, Sir Jeremy Morse.
Their careers followed very different paths, but they shared the same moral values and sense of right and wrong.
Man of Honour |
Chelsea residents will often have seen Sir Jeremy ambling amiably around the neighbourhood.
He was a man without affectation and 'side'.
We will never know what he thought of the generation of bankers succeeding him; Sir Jeremy would never have dreamt of telling us....we can only guess.
Why a man of such distinction was never was given a peerage is beyond most sane people.
Maybe it was being reserved for Pooter Cockell.
