CARPETBAGGER COMES TO ROYAL HOSPITAL WARD

AN AMERICAN CARPETBAGGER UNWELCOME
TO ROYAL HOSPITAL
What is a carpet bagger? In US history, a carpetbagger was an insulting term Southerners gave to Northerners (also referred to asYankees) who moved to the South during the Reconstruction era, between 1865 and 1877.
Thus, ironic that Royal Hospital Ward has had an American, Andrew Rinker, foisted upon them to replace hard working and well liked, Ian Donaldson.
The Dame may have this all wrong(during the Festive Season she tends to over indulge) but it seems that Louisiana born and bred Rinker, though owing a billion pound house in Gloucester Rd, is really based-work wise-in the United States.
So why would Rinker wish to stand for election in the Royal Borough? Seems odd...
Rinker, being stinking rich from oil money, has impressed members of the Association with his show off ways.
So a hard working councillor has been ousted to make way for a socially and politically ambitious American.
As ex Cllr Phelps would say, "you could not make it up"!

The Dame has reproduced his CV only because she wonders whether this Jesuit educated American oil man turned barrister will have time for the little people....from examining his CV she finds it difficult to believe.

NOT ONE OF HIS CURRENT JOBS LISTED BELOW ARE UK BASED!!!!!

  1. His fortune may be enormous and so is his head. What a typical American show off.
I looked him up and he lists everything except where he went to kindergarten. What a pity we have to import Yanks. If I went to Louisiana and tried to stand in an election I would be told to 'take a hike'.

    1. Long serving Cllr Donaldson is gobsmacked and very hurt. Losing a living is one thing. Losing it to a windbag is quite another

  2. He needs to confirm that he is a British citizen in order to stand for election here.

  3. This is the strangest cv for a Town Councillor that I have ever seen.

    1. The Dame must do some more digging. A background like this ending up in Hornton Street almost certainly means that there is a "minority" group lurking somewhere. Masons are not now very active in Louisiana but it is a clue to the mystery......

    2. Rinker, Moylan, Donaldson, Dalton. All members of the BOW group

  4. Loyal service counts for very little these days with K&C Tories. Self styled celebrities and one time bankers is where the action is.

    1. Self interest rears its ugly head. No doubt disgraced ex Leader Cllr Cockerel will have his hand out for a non Executive post with the Tulane Law Revue. £60k a year plus four First Class return flights to America (plus expenses). Alas, the Bentley will not be available to ferry the scoundrel to Heathrow

  5. Lord help us. With this boastful odd ball and with 'phone call' Palmer in Queensgate UKIP have been awarded a real gift.

  6. Here is the link to his self promoting entry. He should understand such common and vulgar showing off about one's fortune and influence may go down well in New Orleans, but it tends to mark you out as w****r here. He is also is very proud of his membership of those odd frat societies our American cousins so love. Like the Bullingdon,,,very Middle Class trying to be aristo.

    4. Shifty looking piece of work. Not nasty (like Phelps). But definitely shifty. Very shifty. And not to be trusted. Will shaft friends, family and colleagues at the drop of a hat. Should be packed off back to the colony.

    1. I'll have you know that Cllr. Jonathon Read's ongoing contributions to the well being of the local community in Earls Court are highly valued. He is a kind and generous sympathetic soul that loves the diverse community in which he lives.

And if you believe that you'll believe that this Yank is a suitable candidate to be a local Ward Councillor. Another *anker who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.

    2. Yes of course, all true, but he lives in 'diverse' Holland Park.

  8. Rinker was the name of Norman Scott's dog. The dog that Jeremy Thorpe shot by accident when he took aim at Norman. Unfortunately Thorpe is too old and feeble to train his barrel on this new mischief maker. We do not need or want this type of person in the Royal Borough

  9. Thorpe did not shoot Rinker. It was his friend, the pilot Newton. More misinformation on the Honet.

    2. The "Honet" is the stuff of Mathew's nightmares. He should stay off the cheese!

    3. The dog was Rinka not Rinker.

    4. Poor old Matthew, always gets it wrong. Didn't he promise to get the kids into Holland Park School? Didn't he get the name of the supermarket wrong? Now he has even got the dog story wrong. The hit man shot the dog!!! That's what hit men do so watch out Matthew or phone a friend in Australia.

    5. Anyone feeling even remotely inclined to feel sorry for Mathew should get to know him a little bit better.

Note: this is a not a recommendation, any permanent psychological damage that may result, including a unquenchable desire to think up novel uses for a mallet, are your own responsibility.

    7. Does it make a figs worth of difference who shot the dog? Thorpe was directing operations.

  10. This is not the Freemasons. Look instead to the British-American Project for the Successor Generation, founded and funded by the CIA to perpetuate the close relationship between Britain and the USA. This recruits Americans and Britons with political talent and connections when they are young, indoctrinating them with propaganda about the virtues of American capitalism and America's role in the world, encouraging them to steer British politics in a pro-Washington direction. In effect, a Trojan horse for US foreign policy. Local distinguished members, or “fellows” as they are called, include Sir Merrick Cockell, Daniel Moylan and Warwick Lightfoot. We can only assume that this man is also amongst them, along with Jonathon Read.

    1. You are 95% correct, but the Cockell, Moylan and Lightfoot are distinguished only by their mediocrity

    2. British-American Project? That sounds more than a teeny tiny bit bonkers. Can I suggest not believing everything you read on the Internet?

    3. How do you know that I too am not a "fellow"? I can assure you, I have extensive experience of this "junior Bilderberg" group.

It was reported that the CIA recruited Tony Blair when he was a student. A good move for the US (cf Iraq War). Blair got a huge payback after he retired with all the US delivered consultancies that he has been doing. He really wanted to be EEC President but the Europeans (sensibly) will not touch him. Anyway, the US has pushed £ millions his way and he and his family are now fixed for the next three or four generations.

I was targetted for recruitment by the British American Project. I thought it stank, and didn't get involved, discovering much later the CIA links.

    7. Is there anything useful that the CIA could find for Pooter to do? The man desperately needs a bung.

    8. He could work with Inspector Palmer as a couple of buffoon spies?

      Delete
    9. Thank you 19:26. Clearly not the conspiracy theory I took it for.

      Delete
    10. Palmer's spying skills are legendary and have been covered on the Hornet before.

If information is your goal then Palmer is worth a thousandth of his weight in root vegetables, horse manure or, more aptly, bovine excrement. If you're happy with second rate fiction however ... no real change.

  11. Cllr Read and prospective Cllr Rinka are not the sort of people that we need in public life in the Royal Borough. And they are certainly not the sort of trash that Tories should be recruiting

  12. Is Cllr Paget-Brown a social climber and seeker of monied company, like his predecessor? I hope not. Egg head went to a good school (Stowe) and even though he has no money there is no obvious evidence that he he tilts his hat at those seeking to flatter and encourage with baubles. It is a complete mystery where this prat Rinker has emerged from and is being foisted on the Royal Hospital Ward. Who is the Ward Chairman and what is his opinion.? Has he been told?

    1. The Dame holds a good opinion of Nick Paget-Brown. She is glad to have been able to support his leadership challenge.

Keep up the good work. And don't forget to keep an eye on the less capable members of your Cabinet....for example, the odd Lightfoot.

  15. New Orleans is in Louisiana. Just seen the brilliant 1949 Oscar winner "All the King's Men" starring Broderick Crawford. Set in the '20s and '30s, it's based on the life of Louisiana politician Huey Long, who came to a very sticky end. Wikipedia devotes much space to Mr Long and the history of Louisiana politics. Doubtless just coincidence.

  16. I see from the Sunday Telegraph today that Tony Blair is now worth £70 million, including £13 million in the bank. Yes, £13 million in the bank. Shortly before he became Leader of the Labour Party I met Tony in my Club where he was dining with a mutual friend. He bounded up, full of enthusiasm, to say "hello, I am Tony Blair". I recall that he was wearing a suit that was one size too small, with shiny insides from too much pressing with a hot iron. And a worse for wear Marks and Spencer's shirt. And scruffy shoes that needed a clean.Clearly he did not have a penny to his name.

    How fortunes change.
