THE DAME'S NIGHTMARE

What happens if steady Cllr Nick Paget-Brown, our leader, is found, bereft of life, in his bath?
This was the nightmare the old Dame awoke from the other day.

When the last leadership battle took place the Dame was firmly on the side of the angels, pointing out the dangers of a Moylan victory.

The young clique of councillors, led by Cllr 'Polo Boy' Marshall, told Paget-Brown, " accept Rocky as your deputy or we vote Danny Boys"

Fielding Mellen is a divisive, emotional and inexperienced young person. The prospect of him ever taking over from Paget-Brown is one that should set alarms bells ringing.

Cllr Paget-Brown has had a few years to recognise the deficiencies of his deputy. He should have taken steps to 'succession plan' by appointing to the Cabinet mature and capable hands who could take over the reins in the event of a bathtime tragedy.
Residents deserved at least that.

Cracking good warning from the Dame

    1. A large crowd was demonstrating outside Rock's house in North Kensington. Banners and shouting.

Could the Dame tell us what this was all about?

    2. 11.02, it was "the usual". Lucky he did not get a good beating too.

    3. Don't know who 'the usual' are. The people demonstrating outside of one of Mellen's assets are angry about him handing over the public library to a private school that he's put his Considerably More Worthy Than Your kids down for.

Also, people who have homes rather than property who are not looking forward to being the next tranche of people forcibly removed from the area so that they can be replaced by (now fictitious) foreign investors for buy to leave.

Succession planning is one of the major responsibilities of Leaders. It is also one of the most neglected responsibilities of Leaders. None of us likes to contemplate our own mortality and the longer we continue in post the more confident we become that the need for change is irrelevant.

Leaders need to be reminded from time to time that a stitch in time saves nine.

  3. The Dame has just reported that the Tri Borough is about to collapse and the Hornton Street organisation has got to be rebuilt.

This is a major and challenging task for the Leader and the Cabinet. Does anyone for a single moment believe that Fielding-Mellen could cope with this?

    No. No. No.

  4. What are you saying? Rock is an 'entrepreneur', and here is the evidence:

RFM’s income from the Council is nearly £50,000, with his basic allowance plus Deputy Leader ‘special allowance’. Pocket money.

Then he has his various ‘business’ interests. In his short life he has been director of ten limited companies, five of which have been dissolved.

First there is Socially Conscious Capital Ltd, worth '£0'

Then weirdly there is Socially Conscious Capital Limited worth an amazing '£2,400'.

And THEN there is VIMV2 LLP, which is registered at his home address. Now we’re talking!. His Mumsie is a director of this one. It's worth a lovely £5.7m.

So is Socially Incompetent Capitalism run as the family tax loss? Oh dear.

    1. This boy never grew up or did anything useful. After a family life of drilling holes in their heads in the Spanish Island of Ibiza, this strange crowd returned to the UK and lost soul Rock was "discovered" by disgraced ex Leader Cllr Cockell who became infatuated and created a space for him on the Tory backbench in Hornton Street.

With a bit of native cunning the squirt understood that piggy was threatened by Cllr Moylan at the last election and threw the youth vote at P-B in return for the promise of the Deputy Leadership. If piggy had turned him down, the cracker had already put feelers out to Cllr Moylan with the same Deputy Leader demand.

The blackmail has now run its course. Time to send the boy packing.

The Fielding-Mellen family are old and valued customers. For many years they have used our slow speed drills to make holes in the heads which causes a great release of energy and pleasure. We are most pleased to have enabled this important pastime for the Fielding-Mellens

    3. Silly people. There is a much less complicated procedure to release "energy and pleasure"

  6. Truly weird family. Explains the boy's composure and general way of interacting with other people.

  7. So PB was caught between a Rock and a hard place? I have long held that the strange chap might be better employed elsewhere - in the performing arts perhaps? Were a TV drama to be made of her life, he's a ringer for Miriam Margoyles

  8. Councillor Rock-Fielding Mellen is part of the rich heritage of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. This part of London has always been home to cranks, eccentrics, weirdos, parasites and the barking mad. And we are all the richer for it.

Only this morning I passed the Marquis of Bath (minus wifelet) in Hillgate Village and spied the Dame herself on an early morning shuffle to buy some milk.

    1. Cranks are all very well. But residents should not be coughing up £60k/year, plus expenses overheads and pension, to pay Mellen to be the pretend Deputy Leader of Kensington and Chelsea.
