WHY HAVE THE TORIES NOT SCRAPPED POLICE& CRIME COMMISSIONERS?

This is PCC Dwyer from Cheshire....just one of the useless 41 Police and Crime Commissioners Lib Dems claim have cost the country the thick end of £100 million since 2019.
He gets £85,000 a year!

The Lib Dems £100 million is rubbish....more like half a billion!

Most of these PCCs are ex cllrs: it's a sort of sinecure.

Senior serving police officers treat these ungifted amateurs as interfering pains in the arses.

Just think how many schools, hospitals and front-line police could be provided by scrapping these dimwits.

The Lib Dems are calling for their abolition. They conveniently forget they forced the idea on Cameron" it was a price of  coalition.

But we have a government complaining there's no money but still allowing the farce to continue.

  1. PCC's should be abolished. I did not know the idea was a Lib Dem one. I thought David Cameron was the driver of that policy in the coalition government.

  2. Some factual errors here. (1) Where is evidence that the Lib Dems forced David Cameron?

In the 2010 general election campaign, the manifestos of the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats outlined plans, respectively, to replace or reform the existing police authorities. Following the election, the Conservative–Liberal Democrat coalition agreement of 2010 set out that:
We will introduce measures to make the police more accountable through oversight by a directly elected individual, who will be subject to strict checks and balances by locally elected representatives.Later in 2010, the government published 'Policing in the 21st Century', a consultation on its vision for policing, including the introduction of police and crime commissioners. This was followed by the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011.

  3. Some factual errors here. (2) What is the Dame’s evidence that they cost £500million?

The Lib Dem’s revealed that PCCs have cost the taxpayer £102.2 million since 2019 through Freedom of Information requests https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/22187248/police-spent-millions-taxpayer-cash/

    2. Oh dear! On top of the Dame making stuff up, 17.06 compounds the issue by making more stuff up!

Please fact check before you post. The FoI did include administrative costs. Here is the Liberal Democrat’s

There are too many people just making stuff up on this site.

  4. John Dwyer, PCC for Cheshire referred to "schoolgirls in my area [...] all wearing very short skirts," in response to a question about a survey by an organisation working to tackle stereotyping of people subjected to crime, violence, abuse.

  5. The Dame and Lib Dem’s are right to call to scrap them! Local police forces need independent scrutiny but that would be much better provided by a local police board, made up of people appointed from across the community.

  6. They make absolutely zero difference to crime, dangerous driving and anti-social behaviour. I’ve always wondered if we sacked the Police Crime Commissioner today and never replaced her/him, would it make any difference?
